I HAVE BEEN USING THESE STRINGS FOR YEARS AND I AM NOT A YO-YO SNOB, A traditionalist...maybe, but no snob
Lets face it; yo-yo strings are not the most exciting in the world nor the most talked about product you are likely address in either formal or informal conversations. I have quite a number of friends that are completely unaware that there is such a product; I pity the clueless and hope this review will help enlighten. But let me tell you...yo-yo strings become extremely important when one of them breaks and you have no spares! There is one absolute fact of life (Well, there may be more I grant you, but hey, we are talking rather important stuff here...for me), and that is the fact that all yo-yo strings WILL break if they are used. A yo-yo is a rather pathetic thing with no string and a yo-yoer without a sting on his or her yo-yo is just as pitiful. I get sort of teary eyed just thinking about it...but then I have a soft heart and can get rather emotional about such things.I have been using these Duncan strings for a number of years now. They are relatively inexpensive, and most important, they are made of 100% cotton. Now I know that there has always been a raging controversy over the material these strings are made of. Some prefer synthetic and some prefer synthetic blends which include cotton. Fortunately violence seldom (although it has been known to happen) breaks out during heated debate as to which strings are best, etc. That is not to say that there has been a lot of hurt feelings and latent subdued anger involved over the years...most people can control their emotions...most for the time. Now I grant you that many of the synthetic blends do last a bit longer and that some of them are quite nice and you can purchase really, really nice colors; more so than cotton. And let me assure you that I have never said anything nasty, snide or rude to these synthetic users. No, I keep it pretty low keyed and my opinions to myself...for the most part. I am not a yo-yo elitist and I do not "look down" on those whose opinion and preferences are different than mine.Cotton strings, for me, simply have more play; proper play in them and they just feel "right." I have tried some of the other blends and they simply, for me, do not have "the feel." Of course you are talking to a guy here that still prefers his yo-yos to be made of wood as not other material has "that feel." But he, we won't go there at this time...I am reviewing strings, not yo-yos, per se. Perhaps I feel this way because I am old, well into my geezerdom, and we old folks have trouble with change...sort of, for the most part, at times.I have found that these strings will last from three to four hours of intensive use with no problem. I buy these things several packs at a time and the price here is just about what I pay locally. Expensive...for sure, but what isn't now days?Unlike a couple of other reviewers here, I have had no problems with defective strings; not once, and I have been using them for quite some time now. They come with the initial finger loop ready to make into a slip-knot and are well tied. While to the new buyer, the other end; the yo-yo end may "look" cut, it is not...you simply of course have to unravel it a bit to place it on the yo-yo. You also must know precisely how long your string must be and be careful not to cut too much from the string when adjusting. You can always cut more, but you sure cannot add if you chop off too much.I have other brands of yo-yos other than Duncan and these strings work quite well on all of them. The only complaint I have, and it certainly is not the product, but is the fact that like everything else in the known universe, these things are made in China. Now I have nothing against the Chinese people what-so-ever, but really folks, cannot Duncan start manufacturing these things a bit closer to home?Anyway...great strings and I will continue to buy them until something better comes along.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks

My husband made a 3D Yo-Yo from his printer and needed the string to go with it so I grabbed this one and it was perfect. Exactly what I was looking for

Yep. String.
Yoyo string is cheap. Durable. Can ve used for all things crafty and lasts well beyond twine or kitchen string. Youre welcome!

If you use your yo-yo you need strings
A good yo-yo allows the user to rapidly spin it at the end of the string without the yo-yo rewinding (at least not until the user decides to rewind it). This actopm creates friction at the end of the string that will eventually break the string. And don't get me started on the multiple ways that a young and inexperienced yo-yo user can ruin a string. So you need extra strings. These strings are fine. I would have given the product 5 stars if the packaging were better. When I opened the package, the strings were a jumble that took me few minutes to unravel. That could have been done better.

Not Stringing You Along
Dug out my old Duncan Yo-Yos to teach and challenge granddaughters. They say strings are only good for so many ups-and-downs, so restringing with the official Duncan. Time to Walk The Dog if you know what I mean.
