What is the actual length?

End-to-end, mine measure 8-7/16" long for the one with the rounded hook (1/16" less than 8-1/2"), and 8-11/16" long for the one with the 90-degree hook (1/16" less than 8-3/4").

Are they screwed into the aluminum or press in?

If you look at them closely, you can't tell if they are pressed or screwed, in fact the two ends could be one. Really what difference does it make, they work as intended. Worth their cost.

Could these be used to scrape carbon off valves ?

Yes, I don’t see why not. It’s your standard pick set.

What's the difference between A & B?

Poor Stainless Steel... VERY Magnetic.

The add claims "stainless steel" construction. I just received mine, so I don't know how soon or how much it will rust (marine environment on a boat), but it TOTALLY FAILED the magnet test. It was not a weak attraction like poor quality 304. This "stainless steel" hit the magnet HARD, exactly like very high carbon steel. I will update after a few months on the boat, to assess the degree of corrosion/rust. But if you were looking for pick tools with non-magnetic properties... these are NOT the picks for you.

A little larger than I expected

Tools are larger than what I expected. The tools are a little too large for delicate work. Appears to be well built.

Versatile set of picks

I liked the feel and balance of the pick in my hand. It was convenient that I had 4 different pick tips in just 2 tools. I can switch between tips easily. I use them in water and it was nice not to have water getting into the handle.
