Which side is which? I’m quite confused as to whether for a cooling affect, the side with the label should or shouldn’t be touching my body.

The shiny side is the cooling side. It is very easy to tell once purchased Wish I'd known about them years ago

Can this be used underneath a sheet?

I did try this and no it made no impact on the cooling side of it, actually was not impressed with this item at all
