Q: What engine oil does this Maxtra 6.5 HP unit use please anyone thank you.

i put in the engine semi synthetic 10w/40 oil. and in the gearbob semi synthetic 75w/90 oil hope this helpe you

Q: Do the wheels drive and if so can you just have wheels driving without the rotors working?

The wheels and rotors drive simultaneously however you can slide the wheels on the shaft to push it in freewheel.

Q: The machine has two yellow sump plugs, is there one communal sumpor are there two seperate sumps. I started the machine, it ticked over fine.

Just be careful. From memory I think the machine is supplied dry (no oil in it at all) running the engine dry will seriously damage it. The yellow plugs you’re referring to sound like the engine fill level plugs, this is where you pour your engine oil into. There is also a gearbox plug that is black in colour and must be filled with with gearbox oil to prevent damage. There should have been warning labels at each of these places to prevent you running the machine dry. Good luck.
