Yes, all rice is microwavable. It will however taste different.

Does it need refrigeration?

No, as it's a sealed dry packet. However once you cook it but don't eat all of it then the remainder would have to be refrigerated.

I purchased the 8 pack a month ago for 9.99, what happened to the price??? a 7 dollar increase!!!!! crazy

Instead of increasing the price,they decreased the quantity to 1, regardless of how many it says you get.
