Expensive but good quality
Tray holds 14 good sized oblong ice cubes, which can also fit through the neck of a 1L flask, great for keeping drinks ice cold for days out.The tray is semi rigid and does not flex or bend when carrying it to the freezer, but will release the frozen cubes easily by twisting it.The silicone lid seals the water in by laying completely flat over the tray, but you have got to gently smooth over the lid to get the seal. You then tip the whole tray to drain excess water from the drainage channels which catch the excess water that spills over while you fill it.If the lid is on correctly, there should be no leakage from the ice cube holes.Best to freeze this reasonably flat to ensure no leakage, you could get away with a bit of an angle but not sure about tipping it right up on its side.I Remove the cubes and place in a freezer bag to take up less room in the freezer. Could probably do 2 to 3 batches to stock up a fair number of cubes, and then remove the tray ( it's much bigger than a standard ice cube tray ).Some of the reviews have complained about a plastic taint to the cubes.I suspect they have not received the genuine article but a cheap copy. The genuine tray is of a high quality and the food grade materials used have no odour whatsoever.

LIDDED PAIR OF SMALL ICE CUBE TRAYS
A pair of stacking silicone small ice cube trays housed in a hard plastic frame with clip shut lid. With practice, not over filling each ice cube compartment allows for the water to expand upon freezing, still leaving room and avoiding trays/lid to stick together upon use. However, if stuck together, either allow a minute or so or gentle but sharp tap to dislodge. This is a characteristic of all ice cub trays, yet this design lessens the issue. The lid prevents contamination, allowing stacking.Ideal for party time and allows better freezer storage due to the compact design. Also bought the large single layer ice cube lidded tray. Similar comments but ice cubes melt far more slowly and have a more effective cooling effect. Good for those who wish to have water with their whisky, etc.Overall a well designed and effective pair of products.

Best ice cube tray I've ever owned
Some of the things I love about this tray,1. Very long lasting. We had one for quite a few years with regular use and no problems with it. It went when my eldest daughter moved out with it. So we bought another!2. The flexible lid does keep funny tastes from the freezer infiltrating your cubes3. The flexi lid also does stop the water sloshing out when you're tryjng to get the thing in the freezer. Don't get me wrong, it's not watertight but it does help.4. Ice cubes easy to get out. The bottom of the moulding for each cube is curved which means that you can push an individual cube down on the side and up pops the other side.So quite expensive for an ice cube tray but worth it if you like ice cubes and make them frequently.

The perfect ice cube tray.
If you've ever struggled to get ice cubes out of the tray, or spilt water over the floor and freezer trying to get your water to the ice box then this is for you. OXO have cracked it (sorry!) with this brilliant design.Just fill the tray up to the brim, flatten down the silicone lid and drain any excess water. Confidently walk to the freezer as no water will spill, even if your tilt the tray at a rakish angle. Nonchalantly plonk the tray in the freezer. Once the cold has done it's magic, it's a doddle to remove the cubes. As the bottom of each "cube" is actually round, a gentle flex of the tray and then a small prod on one side of the cube and it effortlessly slides out. No more struggling, no more cubes shooting across the kitchen!Look no further. Buy this ice cube try. You will not regret it!

The best ice cube trays I've ever used.
Plus: Ingenious no spill design. You can even put them sideways in the freezer to conserve space. Ice cube removal is very easy. Ideal size and shape of ice cubes. They don't pick up smells from freezer.Minus: Occasionally, some ice cubes come out broken. Also, before draining the excess water from the tray, you must press very firmly while sliding your hand across the lid so as not to allow any water to drain from the ice cube sockets. If it were not for these two minor concerns, I would give them 5 stars. In any case, great job OXO!UPDATE NOVEMBER 2017: Over four years later, they are still in great condition. I use them daily. If I ever need to purchase another ice cube tray, it will have to be OXO Good Grips. Changed my rating to 5 stars. They deserve it!

Makes nice ice cubes; a bear to use
Good points:Has a lid to stop ice picking up odors.Makes nice-looking cubes of a good size.Bad points:It takes a lot of pinching and poking and finger-freezing to get the cubes out of the silicone trays. I can't figure out how the arthritis-afflicted target user of OXO products is supposed to manage. Maybe you could use a blunt knife, but that's going to slip and go through the silicone before too long. The top and bottom trays are very different and not interchangeable. The bottom tray is pretty good: it has high sides and baffles with gaps at the corners, so you can easily add water anywhere and slosh it around until it's evenly distributed. The top tray has a rim that rests on the lip of the carrier and keeps the tray at the top level. Thus you can't use the cubes in the top tray and then park it at the bottom until you're ready to refill both trays. It also lacks the high sides and baffles with gaps, so you pretty much have to put the tray in the sink, pour water all over it till it drips off the edges, run a long knife along the top to get the level right, and then dry off the bottom of the tray with a towel. And even that leaves no expansion room, so the water rises up and overtops the baffles as it freezes, forcing you to break the cubes apart.
