Will this work between shampoos on dry hair

Yes, best to dampen hair first .

It is a serum (like a Gel) that sprays into your hand and then you massage into your hair

How is this different than the tresemmé keratin smooth heat activated treatment that used to be available?

Never used the other but this smooth shine serum works good. Smells great helps with shine and fly away hairs. I love it.
