Q: Can this solution work with a tivo dvr (so that you can record sling tv shows and ota hd shows from the same tivo dvr platform without toggling)?

Sorry I"m not sure don't know anything about tivo. Tried slings dvr but after finding out it won't record local ota channels cancelled it. I just tied my ota antenna to my dvd recorder and record general hospital for the wife this way.

Q: What hard drive is recommended to use with this device?

It's a media streaming device, not a DVR. The underlying operating system is Android TV and as such you have access to the Google Play Store to download apps and games into an 8GB internal memory. You have 2 USB ports so theoretically you could attach an external hard drive or flash drive for pictures and videos but there are no DVR functionalities

Q: Can you cast to it from a computer or phone?

You would need the sling app on those devices.

Q: Does it still works in sling ? I have it but cannot get connected in sling ,useless now .nobody should buy this

You can still use it in sling, however you will still need and antenna for your local channels, if the antenna does not work, try a dtv converter,
