Should the whole crane arm itself come out? Finished but the arm just pulls right out. The black cylinder base isn’t secure, butI think I missed step?

How do you get the metal rod through the base, almost seems impossible?

From what I remember, it's tricky. I eyeballed the end of the metal rod through the hole on the other end where it should go. I used flashlight to see the rod since it's dark inside the plastic body. Hope this helps.
