Great Little Guitar No Problems with Intonation.
We got this for our 5 year old. The quality is very suitable for a child learning to play the instrument. We were a little nervous to commit to this one as there were several reviews that complained about the tuners. The price is right so we decided to take a chance. We are glad we did! This stays in tune wonderfully. Our best guess is that those who had difficulty keeping this in tune didn't realize that new strings take several days to "settle" in to the appropriate pitch. My husband (who is a professional string-bass player) would tune and tinker on the guitar for about 30 minutes every day. Each time he began by re-tuning then play around re-tuning as necessary during the session. By the beginning of the 5th day, the guitar had held itself in almost perfect intonation. Every time you play a stringed instrument you should expect to begin by re-tuning then listen carefully and re-tune as necessary.Bear in mind that the first few tunings will slip considerably as the strings have a lot of "give." This is a normal part of playing any string instrument (even the $300 dollar strings on my husband's $20,000 bass have a breaking in period). Just make sure that any slack in the knot at the bottom of the strings is pushed up past the bridge. This will speed up the breaking in of the strings as there is less slack to take up.If you are on the fence because of other reviews I say take the chance and save a little $$ on this one. We did and couldn't be any happier with it.

This Guitar...In black
I ordered this guitar in the black. In the photos the guitar appears completely black however there is a pattern in a ring around the opening it is a funny shade of green and it cheapens the look.(it is pressed on like not a hand painted feel)This guitar is smaller then the other 30in guitars you typically find, for me this isn't so bad because it is for my 16 month old, and i was afraid this was going to be too big as opposed to the 25in "play" guitar i was also looking at, however i wanted something with great sound because he is very responsive to music and i wanted it to actually be playable. The description said it was a actual guitar that could be used for lessons, however i am very disappointed in the sound this is no better then a"play" guitar and was double the price of the other 1 i was looking at, not to mention not nearly as attractive looking and the other one came with a gig bag too, which apparently this doesn't come with even though it was in the pic and i was positive it said it did, but the description is now totally different including that there are no pink blue or black ones available like it was when i ordered it! Its like i put a different item in my cart but it takes me to this one when i review my order and click on it, honestly i'm strongly disappointed. The guitar also has severely extremely visible bumps and scrapes on its neck. Also when i first reviewed the info it said the guitar came with steel strings....now it says nylon strings and do you want to know what kinda strings the guitar we received has on it?.... 3 steel strings and 2 nylon!!!!!I believe we will be returning this, though i will most likely find a suitable replace it first. Then save up for a actual good guitar for next Christmas that i will order through my local music store.

Great value guitar
I bought this guitar for my kids. I have other guitars like Taylors, and a nylon string Goya that I love, so I needed a guitar for my kids that could stand up to their "abuse". I've bought many guitars from the $100-$200 range to leave at my relatives houses. This guitar, for under $50, is superior to those other beginner guitars. I enjoy the sound and playability. I've had it for over a year now, it's been dropped, thrown, detuned and tuned, and stays out on a stand exposed to humidity and temperature changes - and it sounds better than ever. I put good quality strings on it when I bought it, still has the original strings. Sometimes I go for this guitar over my Goya - it's fun to play the smaller size. It plays up the whole neck, many cheaper guitars the neck bows or the frets swell and you lose playability at the octave, but not this little guitar. It's a good size for my kids, I put a strap on it from a guitar hero controller, and they love to strap it on and "play" their favorite songs. And it protects my more valuable guitars. I would recommend this guitar for your kids, for a travel guitar, a gift, or a guitar to leave at your in-laws for when you visit them.

Avoid this garbage and the positive reviews
Ordered this "guitar" for my niece. It was an utter piece of garbage. Save your money. I am aware that nylon strings stretch a lot and have to be tuned over and over again until they settle in so if you are discounting the bad reviews because of that, don't discount this one. If you plan on giving it to a child to beat on and slam into things then this is the "guitar" you are looking for. If you want something that will make actual sounds like a guitar, get an actual guitar like a rogue (what I ended up ordering at only $5 more). If you are frugal just put some fishing line across a shoe box and a stick and you will be ahead of the game with this thing. The positive reviews truly mystify me. Fortunately amazon will take it back as easily as they send it to you. Now it is up to you to decide if I just got a bad one. I didn't have time to exchange over and over again before Christmas to find out.
