Still amazing even after a decade.
The henna I have received so far is from the 07/2023. That's nearly nine months old. The fresher the henna the better stain. I used to practice henna tattoos and dyed my hair red. Jamila was always my favorite as it never had the chunks of plants and always dyed a beautiful red. First photo is of my second dye. This dye I used apple cider vinegar and lemon juice ONLY. I wrapped my CERAMIC bowl in a towel and let it sit on top of my warm oven for a couple of hours. I put the henna in and left it in for seven hours. I wrapped in a shower cap, then a garbage back, and wrapped a towel on my head to keep in warm. Twice I used my hair dryer and blew in around my henna soaked hair (still wrapped) to add extra heat. Second, photo is my first dye. Didn't do a whole lot, added some warm oranges. This one I did a long slow release with red wine and lemon juice and black tea. I waited it for it to release for 48 hours and spaced out and went outside in the cold. I think that messed up the dye. Third, photo is months of dying my hair with mostly Jamila henna. The last photo is my natural color. I am dirty blondish color.

My favorite henna for my hair
This is my favorite henna powder. I use it to color my blonde hair copper red. I use a mixture of 1 part Jamila, 3 parts cassia, and lemon or lime juice into a paste. I freeze this mixture because that gives the best dye release without damaging the dye molecules, which heat can do. You can freeze it right after mixing it, when it is still green, then when it thaws, instant dye release every time! Two hours gives my hair a beautiful Ariel the mermaid red color that turns into a natural copper red in about a 5-7 days. Sometimes though I leave it on overnight while I sleep because this adds more volume to my baby fine hair, and the acids in the juice remove hard water deposits which will turn henna’d hair greenish over time. This product is not gritty like some brands of henna that I have tried. That makes it easier to apply and rinse out. Because it washes out nicely, I do not smell like a horse the next day which is a plus if I have somewhere to be. The results are always reliable so I am not guessing if I will look like a “flame head” the next morning. I can use this brand over mess ups caused by trying other brands on a whim, this is always the one that looks the best. I recolor my hair every other month. With some brands, I have had to color every month. It has also made my hair thicker, fuller, and more resilient to styling, which I love. After dealing with damage from oxidative hair dyes and thinning from a thyroid problem, I am happy that I have healthy full hair again!

Comfortable and SAFE for skin, however doesnt stay on for very long
Pretty good for what you pay. The henna does not have a long shelf/fridge life span once mixed (about 24 hours) so only make the amount that you will use. It also doesnt stay on for very long. I've tried many different recipes to enhance the dye but nothing seems to work. However this is the most comfortable/safe on the skin that I found (I used it for maternity pictures so I had to make sure it was safe to use on my belly). Also good if you only want it very temporarily (5-6 days).

Works great for your Hair.
I'm a natural redhead who's hair has bleached a little through aging and the exposure of the sun. I tried hair dye from the salon, cost: $100, has chemicals that are bad for the hair, doesn't last very long (dye doesn't like to stay on redheads). I tried this once, I like the result at first but realized it's not worth it so I looked into other options.Henna, a miracle. 100% pure henna and some water is all you need. It can cost as little as $6 and lasts for a very long time. It does fade, but in nice way. The only time I usually touch up is when my hair has been growing a few inches and you can tell a slight color difference. The fresher the henna the more vibrant it will be. It is a little messy and weird smelling, but its healthy for your hair. It's natural. It's magical. I do reccomend doing a deep hair conditioning treatment a week before applying henna, but you don't have to. I like this henna for it's price and its results, I've just ordered another package of the same henna to touch up my hair, I reccomend it.

Great Jamila
This henna product is so very lovely. I am super impressed with the softness and dye capabilities. It easily applied to my 4c hair, washed out and covered the greys. While I didn't notice much dye staining through the curing process (5 hours), I had zero coverage issues after application and rinsing. I love it and am looking forward to ordering again. Also I must add that as an avid professional henna user, this product was very fresh!

Worst thing that has ever
Worst thing that has ever, ever happened to my hair. It completely destroyed my hair color PERMANENTLY. It will take years to recover. THIS IS BEING DISHONESTLY MARKETED. WHAT I RECEIVED WAS CLEARLY NOT REAL HENNA - AVOID! I recognize the possibility that I received an unusually bad package (based on other positive reviews), but this level of quality control of unacceptable.I've been using henna for several years now. I prepared Jamila Henna like I do with all other body art quality hennas I've purchased - lemon juice and water, and 18 hours of curing time in a dark place. I left this on my hair for 4 hours, which is what I always do. This methodology has worked well with genuine henna powders I have purchased. The result was the most hideous shade of very dark brown. Not even a hint of red. Not even a hint of dark red or burgundy. I tried to have a professional remove it, to no results. I've tried stripping it with overnight oil treatments, to no results. I have successfully deposited some red over the awful brown with better henna, but the fact remains that it is very dark and very saturated with a horrible color. Please don't destroy your hair with this product. The only way to remove the results of this product is trimming off hair as it grows, and that takes an awfully long time.
