I'm using this radio on 2M, from inside my home, to talk through a repeater 25 miles away. That's with a 701 NA.It's watertight, which makes it better for the woods...hiking, camping, or fishing.I love having the clock! Why don't all of 'em?Pressing (long press) the # will disable dual-watch and fill the screen with the single chosen frequency. Another super feature not found on other budget radios.I'm liking the Sainsonic RST599.

Fast, friendly shipping. Product exactly as described. Will oder two more radios for my business very soon. A little trouble getting it to program, but download prolific USB controller and it works instantly.

The only problem is that it is not possible to copy and paste settings in the programming software, making the process unnecessarily tedious. The radio itself is pretty cool.

Very durable and performs well. This unit does not suffer the "in-motion" receive problems experienced using other lost models of similar manufacturers.

The frequency coverage is 136-174~400-480 not 520 as listed it is said to be extended to 520 MHz. But I cannot find a cable listed anywhere to extend the range or program using my computer.Otherwise the radio works good.

THE GOOD:- Well crafted, feels solid and very good quality.- The 240 Channel + 20 FM commercial Channel memory is great!- The graphical menu interface is well organized and interesting.- Water resistance is a plus, but I wouldn't try to submerge it.- The 7 color LCD backlit gives nice variations.- The enlarged single band view option is also good.- The operation is different from my Baofeng BF-F9V2+, but easy to learn.- The maximum power output was measured around 5.3 watts, exceeding the specs.- The built-in clock, alarm, password protection, date and time are all great extras.THE BAD:- Reception of the local NOAA and FM commercial channels is down right horrible! It's probably due to the stock antenna, but seriously, even my walkie-talkie (bubble-pack toy radio) has better, and I mean MUCH better reception on both NOAA and FM! This radio picked up 4 FM radio broadcasts while my Motorola walkie and the Bao found 25 or so! No exaggeration! :(- There is NO accessories for this radio, not even on the official SainSonic website! By comparison, for my Bao I've got extended battery pack, AA battery pack housing, battery eliminator for car use and mobile (car) charger option. Here, for this radio, there is NOTHING! :(- After adding commercial FM radios, common logic would dictate to use the Up/Down arrows to jump from one station to another, BUT instead, you have to go to the menu, scroll down, then scroll through the recorded channels to pick your favorite. It makes the otherwise great feature of the 20 recordable FM radio channels USELESS!- Also, on my Bao, the FM radio switch has a dedicated button for easy back and forth switch, on this Sainsonic, however, the switch must be done with Menu - FM configuration, a two push step that is very uncomfortable.- There are several menu items in the settings that I just don't understand and the user manual is not very helpful either.- Very big negative: There is NO option of blocking transmission on selected channels, so one must be very careful when adding official channels, such as police/ems/firefighters and such for scanning, because accidental interference can land anyone in deep waters!- The radio, at the time of my writing, is NOT recognized by CHIRP! Though the provided software works, it is NOT as easy, simple and comfortable to use as CHIRP. You can't copy/paste, move, re-organize the list of your channels, no HELP file, no explanation of what does what in the software features, so as far as operation and customization goes, you're on your own!- The downloadable User Manual is a 'folded for printing' type and not the one you can go though page-by-page, which makes it VERY hard to use, pretty much to the point of being useless. :(- By default, the radio is restricted to 480Mhz max and the user need to expand it manually with the 'ADJUSTMENT' menu in the software by entering the password 'tdxband' and then re-write the UHF frequencies from 480Mhz to 520Mhz. Important note that by this band extension, the radio will ERASE the already programmed frequencies, so you MUST do this FIRST, before programming the frequencies.- The radio dials have NO Touch-Tone features like my Bao has, which is very useful sometimes when certain Repeaters require access codes to be entered like that! With this unit, you're out of luck! :(- The side edges of the radio at that orange holding place were supposed to make it more secure, but those edges are so sharp they cut into your fingers holding the radio. They should have been made wider and not like the edge of a knife or razor-blade.- The buttons could have been made bigger, so one could push them wearing gloves, which is very hard like this.SUMMARY: Although the radio itself, with all its bells and whistles provides a lot more than my Bao with the 240 + 20 channels, the weather sealing, the multiple LCD options, larger screen, graphical menu interface and very interesting and useful general operation, it could have used a bit of more designer logic in some of its implementations. The lack of accessories, including the lack of extra batteries to buy with it, are major blows to this fine radio. Compared to my Bao's stock antenna, this thing, whatever it is the radio comes with, is one massive and very sick JOKE for both reception AND transmission! The fact that even a bubble-pack walkie-talkie beats it hands down in reception makes it look ridiculous, at least until a real antenna is mounted on it, which improves a lot.All together I do like this radio by first experience, played around with it a bit, so I hope that in the near future it will get either an updated programming software with detailed HELP file to explain EVERYTHING, or CHIRP will pick it up and make it work, because the current program is not good at all. But still, I give it a fair 3 Star rating and DO recommend this radio to have. :)

Das Funkgerät ist gut verarbeitet. Dichtungen an den Abdeckkappen über den Buchsen sollten tatsächlich verhindern, dass Wasser eindringen kann. Insgesamt liegt das Funkgerät gut in der Hand. Im Unterschied zu den anderen Funkgeräten, wie dem Baofeng GT-3 oder UV-5R oder auch UV82 verfügt dieses Gerät über eine sehr komplexe Menüstruktur und entsprechend sehr viele Einstellmöglichkeiten. Diese Bedienung erschließt sich nach einiger Zeit fast von selbst, notgedrungener Weise, da dem Gerät keinerlei Handbuch beiliegt. Nach einiger Suche habe ich ein Handbuch bei Sainsonic gefunden, was jedoch eine Zumutung darstellt. Ca. 100 Seiten drängen sich auf ein Blatt A4......................... Wie man Speicher programmiert, einen Rufton bei Bedarf sendet oder per DTMF ein Relais steuert schweigt die Anleitung. Inzwischen habe ich den Support kontaktiert, bisher ohne Rückmeldung. Einen Rufton kann man prinzipiell aussenden, aber die Einstellung ist dann permanent aktiv und bei jedem Drücken der PTT wird der Ton ausgesendet. Mittlerweile habe ich auch eine Programmiersoftware gefunden, welche zumindest unter Windows 7 32 Bit läuft. Damit habe ich auch die ersten Speicher programmiert. Dabei lässt sich wie gewohnt der Kanal Alphanumerisch benennen. Das Display zeigt die üblichen Informationen an, bei diesem Gerät zusätzlich Datum und Uhrzeit. Im Menü navigiert man mit kleinen Icons durch die verschiedenen Einstellungen. Die Displaybeleuchtung lässt sich in verschiedenen Farben einstellen.Soweit mein erster Eindruck. Schade, dass sich die Funktionen nicht intuitiv erschließen bzw. manche Einstellungen völlig unklar sind. Weitere Berichte werden folgen.Update vom 25.2.2015: Der Support hat sich zwar genau einmal gemeldet, konnte meine Probleme nicht lösen bzw. meine Fragen beantworten. Eine zweite Anfrage blieb unbeantwortet. Unklar ist weiterhin, wie ich nur bedarfsweise einen Rufton senden kann, also eine Art Tastenkombination ähnlich wie beim UV-5R oder GT-3 bzw. GT-5. Momentan muss ich den Rufton umständlich über ein Menü aktivieren und zum weiteren Sendebetrieb wieder deaktivieren. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit DTMF, man muss alles per Menü aktivieren und zum weiteren Sendebetrieb deaktivieren, ansonsten wird bei jedem Druck auf die PTT ein Ton ausgesendet.Update vom 26.4.2015: Nach einigen E-Mails mit dem Verkäufer und einem scheinbar überforderten Support von Sainsonic habe ich nun kulanter Weise ein Austauschgerät erhalten. Ein Fehler ist zumindest behoben, beim Scannen erschien immer nur ein Zeichensalat auf dem Display. Jetzt bleibt alles lesbar. Aber offensichtlich ist eine komplett andere Firmware installiert, welche nun nur noch chinesisch (?) und englisch spricht. Weiterhin hatte ich den Eindruck, dass das neue Gerät besser verpackt war und der Akku steckte nicht bereits im Funkgerät. Außerdem lag das vorher fehlende Handbuch dabei. Heute habe ich zahlreiche QSO's gefahren. Das Gerät hat soweit einwandfrei funktioniert und es gab keine Beschwerden über die Modulation. Am exakt gleichen Standort liefert das RST599 auch besseren Empfang als z.B. mein Icom ID-31.Insoweit ziehe ich nur noch einen Stern ab.

このメーカーは初です。何台もハンディー機を使用して来ましたが、まずまずの品だと思います。デザインも、操作性も良いです。感度も悪くないみたいです。ただ音が小さいです。ＶｏＭＡＸでも小さく感じます。（現場で）車内などでは十分な音量だと思います。防水性能はまだ試してません。説明書が無いのでかなり苦労してます。値段が高いと国産を買ったほうがいいですね
