PENDING UPDATE THE COMPANY IS GOING TO MAKE IT RIGHT.....READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY.
Because of the cost $430.00 and a strong interest in getting the best radio out there. Please, Rest assured I have done my research, and therefore you will be getting a good review. Please do your own research, it's impossible for me to cover everything. There are 3 or 4 models, and the only one you want MUST BE the TECSUN S-2000, because there are a number of differences, in quality, size and weight. The manual is very clear, but this is a complicated radio and operating it will take some skill. The success to failure rate of unhappy customers is about ((78% good with no problems) and (22% that are forced to return due to defective product)).If your country of origin is the Asia market. You will be getting a 220 volt internal Transformer with a compartment on the back of the radio that opens up with a rolled up cord inside to plug into the wall.If your country of origin is the European market. You will be getting a 120 volt to 6 volt DC adapter that has a pin Jack type plug that plugs (with the center pole is negative) into the side of the radio. WARNING, and I am not the only person reporting this. I am from the American Market. My Transformer adapter is an offbeat brand unregulated and produces 10 volts at 500 milliamps. The radio is rated for 6 volts at 350 milliamps Max, and the tested operating current is 75 milliamp. Which is extremely good for battery life. Giving the benefit of the doubt, a quality radio should have a voltage regulator built in it, and overpowering it with 10 volts MAY NOT cause damage???I will be returning my radio, because 4 of the 8 LEDs do not light. Again, I am not the only one reporting this.RECEPTION;I live 30 to 50 miles from local radio stations. And when compared to a CHEAP BOOMBOX the RECEPTION IS A TIE. But to give the benefit of the doubt, you have 4 key features that will allow you to get a good signal. That's, NARROW and WIDE bandwidth, 3 step ANTENNA ATTENUATION and RF GAIN. You also have SQUELCH and SSB BFO. These features allow you to gain control of weak reception and Pull it in AS GOOD AS MY CHEAP BOOMBOX THAT NEEDS NO SPECIAL ATTENTION for local AM or FM distance stations. But to be fair I was using the built-in antennas on the TECSUN S-2000 and on my cheap boombox, again to be perfectly clear it was a tie. They both received the same under the same conditions. The TECSUN S-2000 has a number of external antenna jacks and since in MY OPINION is that the reception is no better than a cheap boombox you may want to hire professional contractor to install a state of the art antenna on your roof for pulling in shortwave, long wave and Air.The owner's manual specifically States "THE HIGH QUALITY BUILT-IN 4 INCH SPEAKER WITH EXCEPTIONAL SOUND EFFECT".===》 I strongly disagree, my cheap Boombox does better with its two speakers and surround sound. But again, to give the benefit of the doubt. You do have 2 tone controls BASS AND TREBLE. They don't work very well. They're very old school technology, like maybe 1970 vintage. And they have problems. When you turn the bass up all the way, it doesn't increase the bass that much but it pushes the amplifier volume up and has a strange tone curve that easily distorts. The same is true with the tone control. Both of these controls interact with each other, robbing ones characteristics from the other and when you turn the controls down they diminish the other. So they're only good in the middle of the range. Turning them all the way from one end to the other has an undesirable effect for tone. Like I say, it's old school technology.CONCLUSION;Half of the LEDs don't light, an off-brand power adapter---wrong voltage and could damage the radio, complicated controls---takes a level of skill to operate, a built-in speaker that is only average---old school Technology, reception that is on a par with a cheap transistor radio. Also, Faulty buttons---don't always take commands, some of the controls rub the case and go from easy to hard to turn.BUT after nearly 2 months of intense research, THIS IS THE BEST THING OUT THERE. Please do your own research, there are a lot of pros and cons. It has a lot of bells and whistles.I'm going to go out on a limb and say, I think it pulls in more stations than my boombox, but for $430.00 there is always the internet and you can get apps for free. But that takes the fun out of it, doesn't it. To tell you the truth I was going to try and keep it, but the LEDs not lighting that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Good luck on your radio purchase, this is the ONLY radio to buy. You CAN'T get any better, I'M SURE OF IT!!!

Go ahead and get it. You know you want it.
I love this radio. It performs fantastic on all bands. Sound is great. It arrived only less than two weeks after I ordered it. I've been listening to it for a week already and it's still not supposed to be here yet lol. I only us it with batteries I'm in the us and dont have a 220v outlet to plug into. The batteries last me several days and this radio is on about 8 hours a day.

Good Radio, but Poor Shielding
I purchased the Tecsun S-2000, identical to the Eaton. Love the radio. Build quality, sound is pretty good. My biggest complaint with the Techsun S-2000 is the POOR shielding it has against, radio-frequency interference (EMI or RFI). I usually use the radio at my home office desk, which has my Verizon router. I own several short-wave radio's, Eaton/Grundig Field BT, ICOM IC-R75, Tecsun PL990 &tiny Retekess V115. All by the way has very little interference from the Router except for the Tecsun S-2000. I hear a constant long Beep, BEEP in all frequencies. I tested all of them by unplugging the router and they all sounded fine including the Tecsun S-2000. My only recommendation is not to operate the radio close proximity to a router, other than that I recommend it.UPDATE: I purchased a "Blocsleeve Y-Fry Bag - WiFi Radiation Shielding Bag - EMF Protection Security", it worked great and silenced the interfering beeps.

GREAT reception with the built in Whip Antenna
This is my FAVORITE Shortwave Radio! This radio has the BEST reception with just it's built in collapsible antenna. I do use a MJF-1621 (longer whip) antenna with antenna tuner to hear even more stations since I can't currently put up an outdoor antenna. Everyone on the ShortWave Listening Group Pages on FaceBook who have this radio, like me, think it's the BEST radio for the money ($300 when I bought mine - now no longer produced so they are going up).

Poor customer relations
Beware. These are good radios IF you don't get a bad one. If you do your stuck. Customer service will not help you. Your on your own
