Grimms' Fairy Tales (Collector's Library) Hardcover – October 1, 2009

The content of this book is beyond the humble reviewer. Suffice to say these fairy tales pack a lot of meaning into their layers and are worthwhile of the telling and retelling. They should not be forgotten.What I want to share with potential buyers however is what a pleasant book this is. The book is not large but a small size that fits well in the hands. The pages are printed on paper stock with a pleasant texture and a wonderful smell. If you are a bibliophile then you appreciate the smell of good paper. This book has it. The dust cover holds up well to use and overall I am very pleased with this version of the book. I have a few others I have picked up at second hand sales but this one is my favorite to actually hold and read. Most pleasing experience.One caveat, the cover says "complete and unabridged." That is wrong. There is at least one politically incorrect fairy tale that has escaped inclusion here. There are other widely available reprints that do include "the miser in the bush" which is itself euphemistically entitled-- see the Barnes and Noble version and perhaps buy it instead if you want a "more complete" and "more unabridged" version for your library. Nevertheless, the small size and gilt edged paper of this volume makes it a wonderful gift perhaps for a younger reader.

Funny, it says on the cover "complete and unabridged". Not so. Its missing snow white and rose red. One of my favorite Grimm fairy tales. I'm not sure why they'd forget any of the Grimm stories. But its not forgivable, especially if they claim to be "complete and unabridged".It's also missing the juniper tree.With that said, it's a nice book and arrived in good condition. But if you're looking for a complete collection of the Grimm fairy tales, this isn't the book you're looking for.

There's not much to say about the Grimm's Fairy Tales, you know them, you love them, they are classics. This gorgeous little volume is an amazing package for that. I gave a bunch of these as gifts to a Fairy Tale club, and I could not be happier about the quality. They are small books, and would be lovely as a gift for an older child. They are illustrated beautifully and the pages are gilt-edged.

This book is very nice. However, I guess I didn't the details--I was expecting a full-size book, and this is about 3 by 6 inches. The print is small, so if you have problems reading small print you might opt for a larger version. Otherwise, nice little book! My 3 year old won't leave it alone. It's like a life-like scholarly piece, just her size.

I originally bought this product because I'm a big fan of the show Grimm on NBC and I wanted to learn more about the story behind it. I was really impressed with the service that accompanied this purchase. It arrived earlier than the expected delivery date and it was nicely packaged. I read a few stories before bed every night and it's a good way to relax. Not to mention, there are a lot of pictures to accompany the stories. Also, the book is durable. It comes with a paper sleeve over the hardback cover and a built in bookmark to mark your page. It's held up nicely. Worth every penny.

This new edition makes an attractive addition to any library. This is a smaller sized hardcover with golden gilt edges, a silk bookmark sewn in, and cloth covered boards. All in all, a lovely book of surprisingly high quality.

Very cute book, but small in size. There are a lot of stories, but still some old English used in the stories if you were looking for something more updated. This would be best for older kids.

This is the entire text, however, please note that the book size is similar or slightly less than that of a reader's digest booklet.

Brought to start building the collection, not read it since I was a child, this one is not being used.

Some good story's in here that you won't get in other Grimm's story books, you get a lot of the unknown ones I this book which is awesome it got delivered quickly too. Ps this books one you can keep in your pocket i thought it would have been a full sized book.

Every child should have a copy.

and looks far more expensive than it was. I bought it for my granddaughter's birthday and I'm sure it is something she will always keep because it is so lovely.

Another gift for my granddaughter to add to her ever growing books from the Collectors library. Will be ordering more in the future
