Maddocks Genuine C89-P6/C89-MA Pre-Motor Filter

5 stars - excellent replacement filter - perfect for the job. We now have a spare - I wash and dry it whilst using the spare.

Brilliant price and delivery time. Does exactly what you would expect. Bought two so we could rotate them each month. Working really well and the vaccume suction so much better with the new filter in place. Would recommend this product.

I've had my Vax cylinder vacuum cleaner for about 5 years, and am still very pleased with it, but noticed the suction was getting a bit low. After opening it, the pre-motor filter was almost completely clogged with the ubiquitous grey fluff that coats anything associated with a vacuum cleaner. I've heard it's possible to wash the filters, but couldn't really be bothered with the hassle, and buying a new one was significantly cheaper than buying a new Vax, and several orders of magnitude cheaper than buying a Dyson. However, these filters seem to be impossible to find in the shops, and staff in shops selling new Vax-es seemed absolutely baffled that I would attempt such heresy as not buying an entirely new product just because one part of it had stopped working. Cue Amazon.Replacing the filter took less than 30 seconds and fit perfectly, so getting a genuine one is definitely recommended over the marginally cheaper generic ones on here. Vacuum cleaner has a new lease of life and is happily sucking up the vast quantities of hair which my girlfriend leaves around the house. The only reason this gets 4 stars is because it's not the most exciting product in the world. If it lasts another 5 years I'll be happy though.

Having recently washed my old filter and noticed the dramatic improvement in cleaning performance, I thought I'd buy a spare. WOW! Think I'll buy one more and wash them once a month!

It is good but not as good as the one which came with the machine. The one which came with the machine has a tag for rmoval but this one does not have and a bit tricky to remove.

Cheap, easy to replace. Allows one to be washed/air-dried whilst the other is in the hoover.

filter is ok. It vacuum cleaner is not good

When I was buying my new Vax vacuum cleaner I noticed there was a filter in it and thought it would be a good idea to buy an extra one, just in case .....
