Q: How far out has the expiration date been on these compared to when you purchased the hand salve? Anyone think there's any validity to the exp date?

They don't have marked expiration dates but as with most cosmetic type products there is a symbol on it that looks like a plastic container or round container that is open with a number on it. The hand salve has 12m marked on it which means you should toss it after using it for 12 months.

I bought a second one for home and it's a 3oz tin, which will last. The one I have for work, I've had for about 6 years now

Absolutely. That's actually what I use it for. Most nights before bed, I use the salve on my feet and then put thin cotton socks on. I'm not sure how it would be to use during the day with shoes, but it's done wonders for my feet using it at night.

Q: How well does this work on cracked skin by finger nails?

How about "cracked skin by finger nails?" Don't know personally, but it seems to be effective for softening and moisturizing skin and therefore helping to reverse dry skin.
