Ours is approximately 8"X6"X3.5" From what I see online there is a pocket version and a larger version available.

I don't know the exact dimensions., but I believe approximately 9 x 7.

The description is accurate... 8 x 6.5 x 3.25 in. It can be awkward for larger hands. I bought this without realizing the size and returned it to buy the only I really wanted (signature version, I think).

Q: If one takes the chain off, will the lid open all the way with out causing any other issues?

Taking the chain off will cause stress to the hinges, which might cause damage to the hinges. Most likely not, but it is a risk.
