I have seen people go "magnet fishing" online and decided to try it myself. This kit comes with a double-sided magnet, a bunch of rope, and a pair of gloves. I assumed the gloves were to keep your hands dry but they're really designed to keep you from getting rope burns as you "cast" the magnet out into the water.After only a dozen casts I was able to retrieve an old bolt, a rusty nut, part of someone's glasses and a few other pieces of garbage. I quickly learned that casting the magnet directly in front of you is a good way to get a mouthful of lake water -- gross!The magnet is super simple to assemble. Despite its claims of "1,000 pounds" I doubt you could pull a bicycle or anything remotely large out of a lake with this thing, but if you're just looking to go have some fun and go fishing for bits of metal or lost smartphones, this thing will do the trick!

Very strong and effective magnet for fishing submerged metal objects.

it does a job it feels like it’s a little weak and it says 1000 pounds but that would be 500 each side so who knows I’ll see when I find something

already caught a stool out of a lake. everybody was cheering & it was just so funny & ridcilous. you're technically cleaning up the waters or land. just make sure to wear gloves as anything metal & rusty can give you a nasty cut & hopefully you don't pickup anything dangerous. rope is nice & long enough

Really nice. I would recommend.

This was much cheaper quality than the other ones that I have used. The rope broke off after the second use. Luckily, it came apart as it came out of the water and I was able to afix it with a tighter knot. Definitly not as strong as a1000 lb magnet since it is made from two 500 lb magnets put together back to back. I recommend getting a 2000lb one if you plan to buy one with the metal loop on narrow side.

Really nice kit. I bought this for a buddy’s birthday and he loved it. Magnet is huge.

This magnet won’t even lift the washers in the package they came in. Worst money ever spent on Amazon. I actually looked for an on switch. Don’t waste your time or money on this paper weight. If I could give it a negative star I would.
