For lotion or cream, you add it with your oils. Start low and work your way up. The amount you want to use will be a personal preference. How thick you want it to be. The more, the thicker it will be. If it's just to thicken a lotion a little bit, around 1%, if you want a really thick, about 5%. Recommended - Lotions: 1-3%, Cream 10-25%, Melt & Pour Soaps: 3%, Candles: 9-12%, ***We’re not sure about using Stearic Acid in liquid soap since it is insoluble in water.

Q: Can I use this to thicken my hand sanitizer?

I can’t be of any help, I didn’t use it for that purpose.

I don’t know about that. I use it to make bar soap
