The same size as a standard hole punch

9/32" (just a tiny bit over 1/4 inch round hole.

Q: do t his punch through plastic well? I will laminating paper and then punching holes in them. thanks

Yes, I print on card stock and laminate it. I can punch 2-3 laminated sheets depending on the thickness of the card stock. It will also punch through 8-10 pages of plain paper and 3-5 pages of unlaminated card stock. I love this! I keep one at home and one at school.

Q: what is the throat depth - how far from the edge of the paper is the hole?

15mm or 1.5 centimeters from the edge of paper to edge of hole. Approximately 18mm from edge to center of hole.
