How thick is the blade?

If it's about 1/8" thick and your wanting to use it for protection then that blade is way to thin and will bend. Go to Walmart or somewhere that sells camping stuff and look at their black bladed cheap machetes and you'll see what kind the blade is.

Mostly. The tang doesn't reach the base of the handle which is only polymer at the lanyard hole, but does reach most of the way. It's more like an 80 or 90% tang. Better than a 3/4.
