Really nice quality brushes
Echoing most of the other reviews for this product, as I've had a similar experience. I'm really happy with the quality of the brushes! They've been nice to work with for tiny details - they hold a decent amount of paint for their size, deposit paint smoothly, hold their point very well, and feel sturdy and well made. I will say I do feel like the smallest 1-2 brushes in the set are so tiny that I don't feel like I'll end up using them, given how well the larger 2 hold their point, I don't think the smaller 1-2 do much that the others in the set can't already do, but that's more of a personal preference based on the work I'm using them for.I agree with other reviewers that the packaging is lacking. Each brush did have a protective tube over the bristles, but the set came in a thin plastic cellophane bag that made it feel like I was unwrapping $5 children's brushes from Target. I'm not looking for anything crazy packaging-wise but something a bit more elevated to match the price point/experience of using the brushes would be nice.

A joy to use!
These are professional quality brushes, there's just nothing like these. They hold a point and can hold a lot more paint than synthetics the same size. These are great for detail work, they snap back to a tidy point. I have a couple of sable brushes by an unknown brand, and these are clearly superior, the bristles are very neat, and I don't see any shedding. Davinci is a known name in the watercolor scene and lives up to the reputation, they really are among the best!If you are new to watercolor, these are probably not a good choice only because of the small size. I recommend at least a 2 round to start if not larger, you want a brush that's capable of filling larger areas and you'll want to learn how to lump your shapes and shadows as large as possible. These are for folks who already have "workhorses" and need brushes that can handle extreme detail work such as foliage and so-on.I received this item for free through Vine for an unbiased review, my opinion is my own.

Looked used
3/4 had broken tip protectors, none of them look new. None of them came to a point like a new brush. I can get 5 times the brushes in better shape than these for 70 dollars.

gorgeous brushes, as always
Da Vinci makes outstanding brushes, and these are no different. I didn't notice they were real sable (NOT synthetic) when I selected them, which is a shame (I avoid animal products in art/food/life when I can just for ethical reasons) because they perform wonderfully- they produce a crisp, juicy line and hold lots of paint and water for their small size, as the best quality animal hair brushes should. These are beautiful. There are some great synthetic on the market, and I use them 99.9% of the time, but whenever I use a natural hair brush that is quality, I realize that synthetics still have a bit to go. You can't go wrong with a Da Vinci brush.

The paint is good, the ferrule is solid, the bristles are soft and springy and hold water well
The media could not be loaded. da Vinci Brushes Watercolor Set 5536a2, Maestro Kolinsky Red Sable 4 Brush Set, European Rounds, Series 10 Sizes 3/0, 2/0, 1 & 2, BlackFirst impressions: Short handled…just in a plastic bag? Last Kolinsky I bought came in a case with elastic holding each brush. I guess that’s ok. Protective sleeve over the bristles, looks good.Installation/setup: Tried a brush with my watercolors. Holds water well, picks up color. Nice wash.Notes: I got these to add to my travel kit. I like to sketch on site, line and wash.Final thoughts: I think these are pretty nice brushes. The paint on the handle is good, the ferrule is solid, the bristles are soft and springy and hold water well. They fit in my travel kit. I will use them often.⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality-price ratio is ok.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

Very fine brushes
These are some really nice fine brushes for details. For anyone who is painting it’s always good to have different sizes of brushes to have different sizes of lines. That being said I wouldn’t consider these professional but as a hobby paint brush and they do preform well enough for my family needs. Both of my children love painting and these paint brushes took places of a few old brushes. Kids normally don’t reach for the small detailed brushes but I do! I loved these brushes! They’d make a great stocking stuffer, or even in a gift basket made for a person who enjoys art along with some paints. They did arrive in a plastic sleeve, and they had plastic cylinders around the brushes to keep them from fraying.

Fraying after one use
These look like regular hobby brushes by just feeling and looking at the handles and gold lettering. They are well shaped with sharp tips. Each one had a protective tube over the tips to protect them. Now, I’m not new to synthetic or red sable brushes. I have a masters paint brush cleaner, which I’m currently using for these brushes. This has never happened to me before, especially after only using one time, and only for about 20 minutes while testing. I have fraying already, which should definitely not be happening, not this soon, and because I was extremely careful while painting, I cleaned them and made sure there was absolutely no paint that got into the base while using. I first noticed while testing them, I started getting stray lines, I used each one for testing and they all ended up fraying to some degree with #2 being the worst. I was not heavy handed, I did not push down on them with heavy pressure while painting or while swooshing around in water, and with the water line being very low, above the hairs. I painted with them like I paint with my other brushes.Overall, from my experience, i would not recommend. I’m not 100% sure if they are even authentic, or if it’s just a fluke, but I’m cleaning them again and trying to re shape them, and I’ll see how it goes, but so far, definitely not impressed.
