Q: Can someone tell me how to install these? I can't seem to get the right angle to allow the door to close. thanks!

I'm having trouble fitting them for drop down door also. The door comes down about 90 % from opening to open position. But the piston hinge is difficult to figure out the position. I think I fully extend it first, then position the door at the desired maximum opening angle (my case about 90 degrees). Then match the fully extended piston hinge into the position with as much vertical position possible because you will need the piston to contract and move into complete vertical position as the door closes. Is that about right?

Q: Would these work on a pull down spice shelf from under an upper cabinet?

I doubt it. Their primary purpose is to hold a lid up, not hold it closed. The damper relies on gravity to keep any cover shut, so it probably won't be able to support the weight of a spice shelf in place while it's closed.

Q: Is the weight of 22 lbs for just one strut or are two struts needed for the 22 lbs max?

1 Hinge = 22lbs, weight support will be doubled with 2 hinges

Q: I have a desk drawer that keeps flopping open. Will this keep it up? It's 4" tall, will this fit?
