no this fits a round hole about 2'' on a 5 gallon paint pail

Q: Does lid need to be removed to install pour spout ??

You only need remove the lid to stir your paint. Once you've replaced the lid back on securely(rubber mallet and rubber mallet it again), remove the round stopper and you can screw or pop this gizmo on. My paint came from Benjamin Moore and their 5 gallon buckets do not require the black screw on part. It is super simple to pop the nozzle out and replace the stopper for storage.
