I'm not sure. But if you're looking for a product to make things fire retardant this will pass inspection. We use it on everything that had to be fireproof and pass inspection with no problem.

This product has been successfully tested in accordance with and meets the standards established by National Fire Protection Association Test Method NFPA 701.

Q: can you spray this outside of a metal safe to make it more fire proof?

This product is designed and tested for use on fabrics. Please follow the directions for effectiveness of product.

Q: Do I need to reapply this product every time the item is washed?

Yes. Once the fabric is washed the effectiveness is removed and will need to be reapplied.
