THIS IS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER READ! I FELT LIKE I WAS HAVING A SEIZURE WHILE READING IT. I WAS UNABLE TO READ THIS NONSENSE. GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION AND THE WORDING WAS SO OFF I WAS SHOCKED THAT SOMEONE WOULD SELL THIS GARBAGE. I WILL ASK FOR MY $3.99 REFUND!

This translation is very poor. Both the English and German are horrendous and look like google translated this.The stories do not flow properly in either language with plenty of translation errors.Do not waste your money.

Really crappy—no effort on the page layout. There's barely any margin, no spaces between paragraphs, and sometimes no clear demarcation between stories!

For someone wishing to improve their German language proficiency, this translation seems to me to be rather inaccurate!Some phrases are totally ignored, whereas others are distorted. Of course, the overall meaning of the German text is there, but I was hoping for something more instructive.

One of the best prints of these fairy tales I ever seem.... Great classic story.... "Illustrated Junior Library" is one of the best compilations you can buy or find anywhere. There is a reason it has been published for decades. .. "illustrated Junior Library" is slightly abridged/condensed for a teenager audience. If you want the original in the old language with archaic slang and verse then look for an older edition, yet this is very close, but it's been edited from it's original to bring grammar to modern ages and appeal to teenage readers.

The text is readable and fine, but there are no headings for when the story changes. So one page is one fairy tale and the next page is suddenly a new one. It's horrible formatting all around. Disappointing for sure.

Sweet! This is not the Disney version of classic fairy tales. These are the hard core originals that might scare your kids when you read it. The perfect solution for yours daughters who think that Cinderella is the greatest thing ever.

Bravo to Naxos for recording these tales in their original, unvarnished form. Admittedly dark at times, but, then again, so is life-- no matter how much we try to sugarcoat, better to prepare our kids what lies ahead with the help of magical examples and traditional folktales. These will bring out the kid by the campfire in all. Kudos to Laura Paton's animated readings. A great pleasure to listen to at bedtime, with or without the kids.

DO NOT BUY! This book was apparently run through Google Translate a couple of times from whatever the original language was. Get the Penguin edition instead as this is a worthless version.

The translation appears to have been done by Google translate or worse. The English is terrible and the stories unreadable.

Loved them as a child and now my son is enjoying the book. Arrived quickly

The Grimms' Fairy Tales Vol. 1 CD arrived on time and in excellent condition.The price was very competitive.My only gripe is with the recording quality.It is rather quiet at normal volume settings and needs the dial cranked up to near maximum.
