Great aquarium cleaner
Nice and solid build, doesn't feel cheap or like it'll break easily. Was able to clean off all of the Coraline of the glassa easily... Being stainless steel, you just need to Rinse of the tool after using each time so it don't rust. Nice size to where I can get to the bottom of my 75 gallon (24inches tall) without getting my hands wet.

Why did I use non-razor scrapers all these years?
My tanks *glow* with clarity after using this thing... I had been using magnetic plastic kinds and sponge scrubber on a brush kinds with a lot of effort and very poor results for years prior to this purchase. I'll continue to use those for acrylic tanks, but for glass, this is The Right Tool For The Job. Also, replacement blades are dirt cheap standard safety razor blades, and the thumb screws make replacement easy. Look on Thingiverse for "algae scraper" and you'll also find a safe and quick-to-print wall hanger / cover which fits this perfectly.

Great scraper.
There have been a bunch of reviews about this scraper, many contain complaints that make absolutely no sense. First of all this is exactly what it is described to be...a razor blade scraper with a long handle. Complaints about how small of a surface area the blade covers are ridiculous...it's designed to hold a double edge razor for God's sake. But if you should need to mow 4inch wide swaths of algae from your glass at a time, you can purchase 4inch wide scraper blades and they will clamp quite nicely into this little holder. I have also clamped single edge blades into this holder and the single edge blades are a bit stiffer than the double edged ones to help you scrape the more stubborn stuff. I have a 220g that is 31 inches tall....so my hands don't stay completely dry while using this to clean my glass, but it's way better than sticking my arm in up to my elbow! Well made, does what it says, and exactly as described.

You will not be sorry you treated yourself to this gem.
This is amazing! I have tanks for years and never have found something that made my life so much easier. The handle is very long- wish I had had it when I had my huge tanks. I only use one section of the metal handle, and it is firm and does not bend when I am scraping the tank. The double sided blade that comes with it is sharp and works well. I had hoped that regular blades could fit in it to replace this one when it is dull, but alas the screws that hold the blade in are not set the correct distance apart. I will likely drill through one and try to fit it though. One caution, I have not had it rust, but I take it apart every so often and dry it. No sign of rust yet. I use it one or two times a week.

Poor design and quality
I got this thinking it looks really durable and will be useful in cleaning my aquarium glass. I found out the quality and design was very poor. What I liked:Sturdy rod.Includes an extender for deeper tanks. What I disliked:There was some grey goo on the threads of the extender. The bolts to hold down the blade had very little grip. I could have easily slipped and cut my finger while I unscrew the bolts. The blade that was included was dented, this could have caused a scratch on my aquarium glass. The threads on the handles did not screw in and lock together. If I kept twisting it in, the handle would slip on the threads and continue to rotate. The head was designed so that the blade tilts in at an angle. This might have seemed like a good idea at first, but in practice, it actually caused me to apply a lot more force than necessary to keep the blade against the wall of the aquarium while I pushed down to scrape the glass. If the blade was simply inline with the handle, I would be able to tilt the whole thing and make the process easier.

Worked better than I thought... Good it takes standard blades...

Does exactly what it's supposed to.
I had a neglected tank that had a bit of hard buildup that the algae scrubber wasn't getting, so I finally ordered one of these. It worked better than expected. You have to use it at a pretty acute angle with the glass or else it will skid and jump on the glass. If you have it at a low angle, it runs smoothly and silently along the glass. You don't have to push too hard either. This is a great tool. The handle is long enough to clean my entire 48" 75 gallon tank without touching the water. Wish I got this years ago.

Raclette vitre
