Duramax DH 1.3 Metal Cushion Box (585 L) with Hydraulic Gas Cylinder & Padlock Eye, Outdoor Deck Box and Garden Furniture Organizer, Anthracite & Off-White Trimmings

Having recovered from the trauma of building it, I am extremely pleased with the box. It's survived many heavy rainstorms and multiple inspections by the squirrels that had gnawed my old plastic storage box. It's big and solid, looks very smart, holds lots of stuff, and I love the way the lid stays up. It does have small air vents just above the bottom corners but I've not had any problems with that (no water or insects) and I think I prefer it being able to breathe. Being metal, it can get hot in the summer. I store animal food inside it so don't want things to stew in there.It was well-packed and came with all the bits needed to build it, plus extras.Building it did take two people, lots of patience, knee pads (highly recommended for crawling on the floor doing the first lot of screws), a mini electric/battery screwdriver to fully tighten the screws. It helped to read previous reviews as, yes, the instruction diagrams do show the big screw holes and small screw holes the right way up, but if you're not looking for that you may miss it. Be organised - work out what's needed for each step and get it all ready in advance. The instructions were good, and everything fitted together right up until the very end, when the holes in the lid didn't all align. Rather than take it apart again I left off two of the top corner bits, which I suspect were the wrong size. It works perfectly well without them and everything aligned without them.I contacted the manufacturer to ask why they don't have a video showing how to build it. They do for all their other products. I didn't get a response and think you probably have to phone them rather than message them. But my suspicion is that they don't provide a video because a) it would be several hours long and b) it would put people off buying it. But don't be put off. It's well worth the time and effort, for the price. Just make sure you set aside a few hours, or construct it in place where you can take a break if you end up having a big argument about who should have the electric screwdriver. There was a great sense of achievement when it was finished.

Definitely needs 2people to put together. Instructions not the best due to pictures. Lots of screws. Quality is good due to it being metal but the lid could do with being a bit sturdier as you can lift it up the ends and bend as it only locks in the middle. It’s seems to be waterproof from the shower we’ve had looks very stylish on the wooden decking.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU LIVE IN THE UKNot fit for purpose. There are gaps the whole way around the bottom so the rain get in straight away. this is a terrible design and not shown on the pictures that the external walls of the box have to be screwed to the internal tray / bottom of box. Its literally soaking wet. All of my cushions are wet through. DO NOT BUY IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK

It is a good box, though the sides are a bit flimsy, it is quite sturdy once it is finished. I've added 4 wheels and a stiffening wood panel inside to be able to move the box around easily and put heavy materials in it. It works perfectly. Thanks!

This is a very large and decent looking storage box. I bought it for the garage so that I could store bird food, and any other things that were getting wrecked by the mice, in it. In that respect it's absolutely great - I have no more problems with mice chewing through everything and, hopefully the fact that the bird food is no longer accessible, means that they've gone on their merry way. The lid stays up very well meaning that I can rummage around in the box without fear of it falling down on me.Whilst the box is great for storing a lot of stuff the construction of it leaves a bit to be desired. The sides are made from very thin corrugated metal and it's quite a feat to put it all together, (plan for a couple of hours at least and ideally a couple of people). Once it's assembled it is considerably stronger than I initially thought that it was going to be but, even so, when leaning in to pick out a heavy box of bird food I leaned on the front of the box near the middle and the horizontal support that runs across the top bent, leaving a rather sharp bit that can catch you - even after I'd straightened it out. The top is also very thin metal and, whilst it has supports, will also dent very easily. I am now quite careful not to lean on the box now when using it.In summary, this storage box is great for storing a lot of stuff and keeping it safe from rodents. However, its robustness is very questionable - if you want something that looks good and won't dent then this might not be the item for you as it really isn't very strong.

Very pleased with this item. Unlike some of the other reviews I found the assembly of this item to be very straightforward. All pieces are very clearly numbered and all pre-drilled holes are extremely precise. It does take a bit of time and another pair of hands certainly helps at times to help hold the panels while fixing together but was very easy. My only concern is that it provides a completely dry environment for cushions to be stored year round….time will tell
