BEST model for a boy under 10.
BEST toy ever for a 7year old. I was given some great advice by a seller in a model car shop to buy this one online, as she said children tend to just crash and destroy faster models. Because of this cars giant tyres, even when driven straight into a wall/tree it just 'climbs' it and flips over. It doesn't go very fast, but it perfect for my boy (7) and his sister (5) to control. They spend hours making ramps and jumps for it, and so far, so indestructible.

Brilliant, great fun for the 'big kid' in you.
I was a little weary of the claims made by the manufactures, however having now used this machine on several occasions I find it utterly brilliant. As long as its tyres can 'get a grip' it will go virtually anywhere. Quick efficient delivery from Parkers of Bolton. I did invest in a more powerful battery & associated charger, resulting in more fun for longer!

Go 'anywhere' fun. Easy to modify and upgrade to make even better.
The car is an ideal introduction to Rock Crawlers for someone and quite a good first R/c model car for kids in general. I have found that one problem with kids and ‘model’ grade R/c cars is that most of them are fast and you need a lot of space to use them. Playground, local car park and such. Because of this, they don’t get out and used as much as they could and going around in circles fast is fairly limiting on a child’s attention span. However, due to the nature of this type of model it is much more versatile. In the house over piles of toys, cushions, sofa, the cat, dad’s legs etc.. In the back garden through the flowerbeds, up and down the patio steps, over obstacle courses. In the woods over tree trunks, roots, through puddles and streams. My son has had a LOT more fun from his Scout compared to his other R/c cars. Being a ‘model’ car it is fully upgradeable and any piece can be bought separately if it needs replacing. There are a number of fairly easy modifications that can be done to the car for little or no money to make it even better if you Google for them. These include weighting the wheels to lower the centre of gravity, lowering the shocks by 10mm to lengthen the wheelbase and lower the CoG again or simply just re-drilling the body mount holes 15mm higher to reduce the height, making it look a bit more realistic. The car does however have a weak spot. The square ended drive shafts from the wheels plug into a centre differential made of nylon and these square holes in the nylon round-off over time until the shafts spin and there is no drive to the wheels. At this point you either need to replace the differential or, as I did after finding a solution on an R/c forum, use a minidrill to grind out the inside of the differential and inset metal ‘Axial’ brand diff locks. You’ll also need to grind down the end of the shafts slightly so that they will now fit in the metal diff. If you are a modeller, this is an evenings work but is a permanent fix.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!
This rock crawler is brilliant, I bought a land rover shell to put on top and it looks like a £300 car, brilliant quality and can climb up anything, don't expect it to be fast as it is a rock crawler and designed for rocks crawling not speed.

maverick scout rc
Hiwell im not exactly a child im 26! Ive always been interested in rc cars mainly nitro truggys and buggys. So this is very much a new thing for me being electric and a rock crawler.Upon opening the box your presented with this odd looking shell with a lovely paint job after removing the contains of the box you'll have a transmitter(controller) which is 2.4ghz which is great for this price. Then you have a extremely brief manual but in all fairness it does explain simply and easily how to get going and then you have a charger with a array of different plugs for different countries and England of course. I strongly recommend getting a fast charger cause a 6 hour charge time on the 1800mah battery supplied is a long time i picked up a fast charger for £17.50 from my local hobby shop and charges the battery in 20-30 minutes!Anyway on to the important part the truck itself after removing the shell i was very impressed with the build quality of such a low priced model after years playing with rc stuff ive found it a good idea to check screws and nuts as ive had some before that were loose and ended up losing them, amazingly the was not one loose screw on this truck which is incredible when I've had models almost 3x more expensive than this with lose screws! Very happy with the build quality although the diffs and transmission are not greased which i recommend doing. It performed really well but as i said earlier im new to the rock crawling world so have nothing to base that on but im happy.I would recommend to anyone.
