Great Price to Performance!
I bought this CPU about 18 months ago purely because it was the best value CPU I could put in my motherboard. To explain, I had built a PC at Christmas 2015 but could not afford a GPU but still wanted to game while I saved up. I, therefore, got an AMD A6-6400K APU and a £30 FM2+ Motherboard from ASUS. When I had finally saved enough to buy a GTX 960 I had accepted that my APU would bottleneck severely being a dual core. That's where the Athlon came in. I opted for this because I already had a graphics card so didn't need integrated graphics. This chip is amazing value!. A true Quad Core that can handle moderate games. I will admit it is struggling now in late 2017. It is the biggest bottleneck in my system and now I've purchased an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 but if you don't mind lower setting or just want to play older games then this is great. With my GTX 960 and the Athlon X4 860K, I get around 40 to 50 FPS in demanding scenes in most games. this is normally at just higher than the low preset.I've also used it to video edit and if you turn down the preview resolution, it is fairly usable in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop is pretty seamless most of the time. All in all, I would recommend this if you are on a really tight budget and have the older hardware or can get it very cheap. With the new Athlons on the AM4 platform it is hard to recommend generally since they are about the same price and use DDR4. They also have an upgrade path. Just worth bearing in minde but I've had no problems with this CPU (although it's stock cooler sounds like a jet engine).

This was a lot better than i was expecting
This was a lot better than i was expecting. I went for an intel i5 system to an AMD system to save some money. Boy do i wish i never spend the money on the intel in the first place. I suppose this is only true for someone like myself who does not need a lot of cpu power, I'm an avid gamer and i from time to time dabble with photoshop and sony vegas for projects. But its great, it runs cool, it overclocks super well 3.7 up to 4.4 ghz for me, it encodes quick enough for me being a quad core, and I've been playing all sorts f games on max pretty much along side my AMD 7950 gpu, right now GTA V on high settings, looks and feels as good as it was on the intel stuff, which was triple the price when i bought. For the motherboard and cpu here from amazon i was 85 quid. Not bad for a budget gaming build.....No ... No ..... Not bad full stop, i don't see the need to upgrade this for a few years, It does everything you need and more and for a stellar price

What a Pleasant Surprise for the Price
What a little gem. Ok the fx cpu's are getting rather old now and intel in pulling well ahead with core performance numbers. The apu side on the other hand is rather janky, paying for a low end gpu in a cpu cranks up the heat and the price. Meaning if you was going to get a dedicated graphics card it could limit your options if you wonted to pair it with the low performing graphics core on the apu. Its fair to say i'm not a great fan of the apu range. This is where this little pup comes into play. At this price you would exspect some hing quite janky and slow. Pair this little gem up with a hybrid drive if you're on a budget and cant afford a ssd and the little cpu runs away. It has plenty of grunt for casual mordern gaming and everyday tasks. Everything seems surprisingly responsive, everything just seem to work and work blooming well. Running cinibench it recicvied a not to shabby score of 350cb. If you won't a small cheap cpu that will get the job done and get it done well this might the cpu for you. At this price there isn't much what contends with it in terms of multitasking performance per £. However this does run very hot picking up a small but cheap aftermarket cooler or even a fx oem cooler will be worth while.

Good for the price, very good! Will overclock well if you get an aftermarket cooling fan
Really good for the price. Replaced my aging A6 APU with this CPU and a Geforce GPU and I'm very pleased with it. I can now play the latest PC games at a far better frame rate. Also with this being quad core it handles everything far better, my computer loads quicker, I can run more programs at once and my PC runs smoother and more efficient. I Recommend this CPU to anyone with the FM2 socket. But don't forget you'll need to get a graphics card, if like me you're upgrading from an APU.-- Edit; purchased some aftermarket cooling and overclocked this to 4.4Ghz stable without adjusting the voltage. Managed 4.5Ghz stable with a slight voltage adjustment. --

Great performance for the price
Yeah like others have said its like an i5 but 2 cores with 2 processes each.I had to rebuild a machine in an emergency (Core2 duo 3gig) and a small budget, so for my £150 i went for:This obviously Athlon x4 860KMotherboard: Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2Ram: HyperX FURY Series 8GB DDR3 1866MHzCase: 1100 FractalCPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer A11Exhaust: ARCTIC F9 - 92 mmThe old parts i managed to salvage from my old broken machineHDD 1:SanDisk SSD PLUS 120 GB Sata III 2.5-inchHDD 2:SanDisk SSD PLUS 120 GB Sata III 2.5-inchHDD 3:Samsung 1TB 2.5 inchGraphics: VTX3D AMD Radeon HD 7750 4gbI now have a PC that boots up faster than the monitor can turn on Best £150 ever !!!! And it runs really cold like 25C next payday going to add another 8gb of ram and leave it at that so great value for money and a machine that rocks Hell it even plays games now.
