Nostalgia in 3.75” form
Basically the same review I posted for the 3.75” Nova figure: if you grew up in the ‘80s and were a fan of Marvel, then this is the figure for you—if you didn’t, then it probably isn’t. Not a lot of value for the money, but between the form-factor and the character, it scratches that itch for me.

Broken package
The figure was wrapped in bubble wrap which was good except for when I took it out of the bubble wrap the plastic was completely off the cardboard and the cardboard was damaged

Package was beat up.
If you are collecting to leave it mint in the package, beware. Figure was fine, but two corners of the package were bent very badly. Figure was in a cardboard box with other orders and no protective packaging at all.

More From The Unofficial Secret Wars 3.75 Figure Collection: Spider-Woman
Ok… This is definitely NOT the Spider-Woman that appeared in the Secret Wars Maxi-Series comic back in the 80’s, and there never was a figure made of her for that line, either. In fact, ironically enough, the Spider-Woman from Secret Wars wouldn’t have her own figure until Toy Biz came out with a line of figures based on the popular Iron Man cartoon in the 90’s. Even more ironically, the original Jessica Drew version would also get her first figure in the 90’s as well, being part of the Spider-Man cartoon series. This new 5PA of the original Spider-Woman in the 3.75 scale is a great sculpt very reminiscent of that 90’s version with colors just as bright, and brings back the feel of the of the version from not only the 90’s Spider-Man cartoon, but also her own original series from the late 70’s. This version of Spider-Woman has been released in the Marvel Universe 3.75 articulated line as well as in the 6-inch Marvel Legends lines, and while the detail in these figures is nice, it’s the muted colors that are annoying to me. They don’t have that comic book or cartoon feel of the character that I remember. I don’t know why all of the more modern versions of these classic characters, even if they are in their original costumes, I don’t know why the paint scheme has to be so much darker t nowadays. Take a look at most Batman figures over the last ten years or so… all darker than even the comic at times. It’s almost like that paint style set the trend for what was to follow later, which is now. I’m just glad to see that this new version of the original Spider-Woman once again looks like she was originally meant to. As always, the card art is amazing, for those collectors who don’t want to remove the figures. I’m so glad that Spider-Woman… THIS Spider-Woman was included in this line, and joining the women of Marvel who helped make the company great. 5 Stars!
