How do you clean all the nooks and crannies of the cap?

Great question. The inside of the cap had a flip match so you can clean the mouth piece but cleaning the springs and hinges could be difficult. The instructions say to soak the lid in warm soapy water for 5 - 10 minutes. Then agitating the lid in the soapy water finished by rinsing in cold water. I have found that this method works fine and the need for more detailed cleaning hasn't been needed. I do have a small brush used for cleaning the small crevices sold by the same company but haven't seen much need to use it. I use my container every day and clean it once or twice a week. The main container area is cleaned with a bottle brush with soap and water. The container and lid are also able to be sterilized in the dishwasher.

Can you use carbonated Drinks in this?

I would advise against this. While the construction is far superior to anything I have had in the past, I would not risk it.
