It's a bit of fun when filling it with heated item to watch the design appear. Made well and I understand to no put this in the dishwasher to make it last longer. I like the size, the design and the weight of it.

The mug is a standard 15oz size you find pretty much everywhere, and has a special painting coating on the outside that is heat-sensitive. It's fairly responsive and stays visible for quite a while as long as there's drink inside and it's hot.The material used for heat-sensitive designs is NOT machine-washable, it will scrape off during the wash cycle. The mug is ceramic though, and washes easily (and best) by hand with some soap.

I like the size of this mug and the heat sensitivity works pretty well, but, it isn't dishwasher safe and I didn't see any instructions or warnings in the packaging. It does have it in the information on its listing, but, I didn't notice it until after I ran it through the dishwasher and as you can see in the picture it did mess it up somewhat. I am concerned about what might be leaching out of the mug and even though I don't think any of the coating is on the inside, you do have your lip over the outside to drink from the mug. I am Leary of using the mug because of it.
