Q: What is the width of the bowl base please?

As star67 reports, the flattish part of the base is about 190mm diameter. The base has a pressed ring with the outer diameter of about 190mm and and inner diameter of about 140mm. The ring pressing is about 3mm deep. When you place this bowl on a flat surface, it is only this ring making contact with the surface. You may be able to make this out from the sales photo. Probably totally confused you now - sorry.

Interior base measurement is 19cm / 7". Although your feet would not lie flat across the base, the bowl is wide enough to soak feet.

Q: I need a new washing up bowl but dont want a plastic one. Will this suit that purpose?

This is a lovely bowl but more of an old fashion wash basin. I don’t think it would be deep enough as a washing up bowl. I use mine as a large mixing bowl.

There is a flat section of about 7 inches (18cms) across on the bottom. The sides are of course sloped.

Only looks the part

Nice looking bowl, however the enamel has come off the rim in places. I resolved the problem with enamel paint to stop rusting. It has given it a rustic look but I wouldn't have expected the enamel to chip off. A inherited old bowl is still going strong!

Really useful basin around the home

Item in perfect condition - robust and very useful. Useful for 101 different jobs from washing the dog's feet to boiling up cloths on the stove. Not too heavy but far more serviceable than the polythene equivalent.It's not easy to find these in the shops - this arrived almost by return.

Very Pleased

I live on my own and needed a bowl to do washing up in. I did not want a bit of plastic and this fits the bill very nicely. Arrived in perfect condition. I am not sure how the white enamel will stand up to dishes, knives etc but wear will add character to this basin.
