Exactly as you would expect from a reputable engineering tool brand such as Starrett.
This scriber is a nice size. The weight and knurled grip makes it feel quality and stable in your hand.I wondered about the steel tip as my other scriber has a carbide tip, but so far this works just as well on all the materials I've used it on.One handy little note is that the tip can be turned round and the point sort of stored in the handle. I'm not sure if you are supposed to do this but it does work, although it doesn't seem to tighten quite as well as when in its proper position, so the tip can sometimes come loose when doing this.Overall a great sized and quality feeling little scriber, glad I picked it up.

Dead useful
I bought this as a general purpose tool - I use it for cleaning out holes, scraping shmoo off PCBs, getting silicon out of crevices, general poking about, you know - that sort of thing. Use it all the time as it's a lovely, well made, quality tool. I also have its little brother... :) Highly recommended quality tool. Probably quite good as a scriber too.

Great tool, I have never regreted so far for buying Starrett
I love Starrett tools.70a and 70Bare great but if you know (or learn) how to make your own tips they are spectacular. Tip can be fixed in handle if you make the bottom part to look like a screwdriver so handle prevents rotation of the tip.Whole new world is then open.

Lovely bit of kit
Yes, it's only a scriber and you could use any pointy bit of metal but this is a "good in the hand" nicely designed bit of kit.

Der sichtbare Teil der Spitze ist 52mm lang - Starrett gibt 72mm an, aber das schließt den Teil ein, der im Griff steckt. Das ganze Teil ist 149mm lang. Abgebildet scheint eine 70A zu sein, die 70B ist deutlich dicker.

Another quality Starrett tool
Got this for drawing accurate lines on aluminum projects. Well designed and thought out tool, replaceable tip. Knurling is nice, not QUITE as nice as on the Starrett center punch. But it is still a good quality tool, highly recommend.
