Product Description This Altano Douro red wine is made by the Symington family, entirely from grapes grown in their own vineyards, located along the length of the Douro Valley of Northern Portugal. The family is now into its fifth generation of Douro winemakers, although its involvement with the wines of the Douro can be traced back 14 generations to the mid-17th Century.

A stonkingly good wine!
I am loathed to give a good review as I wish to purchase more. This is a really cracking wine, if you want something a little away from the norm don't hesitate. A wonderful body, an amazing fruity nose, and really well balanced. I am a true convert to this great wine. I could rave for ages over this one, and waffle on and sound pretentious, so I won't and will just say try it, you won't regret it. Delivery was swift, and very well packed and protected. I would not hesitate to use these guys again, and recommend them to chums.

Gutsy Red
This is a powerful red wine which in my opinion needs food to enjoy it at its best. Symington is better known for port than table wine but the wine is good. I think it has staying power and hope to keep a bottle for a few years to see how it matures. Worth the price.

Hi, - although this is a really lovely Douro wine, - it is not quite the same as was drunk on 'The Wine Show'. - the wine actually drunk on the show was the 'Organic' version, and had a green label as opposed to a dark blue!
