best toilet - deserves bonus stars!
How can a toilet be the best? Well, first it has to do "the job." It definitely does that with only one push of the button (we also have other brands of commodes in the house that require an extra flush or two). The look is great, very sleek. It doesn't take up too much room without feeling like you're on an RV toilet. On that note, the actual seat is comfortable, even if you're there for a while. It's the right height and seat shape. And lastly, I didn't believe the "stays clean" claim for one minute, until I saw it for myself. Seriously, it looks like there's going to be a "shelf effect" but nope. It all goes bye-bye! I know it's weird to have such strong feelings for the least favorite item in the bathroom, but I wish it came in more colors. Basement renovation coming, and matte black exterior would be awesome to go with the faucet and sink.

Horrible toilet design. Beyond awful. What was Toto thinking?
This toilet has a very badly designed toilet bowl interior. A large hump stands above the water line...so (how to put this delicately) when you use the toilet for #2, it doesn't necessarily end up in the water and the inside of the bowl is disgusting in no time. What a terrible terrible idea! I can't say enough how much I hate this toilet. We have other Toto toilets and they are great. This one is NOT. Never would have purchased it if we had seen the inside of it.

Fantastic Toilet
I have to admit I am a fan of TOTO toilet. Every bathroom in my houses is equipped with one. This particular one is fantastic as it has a powerful swirling water which, together with the special coating, keeps the bowl clean. I am not sure why some reviews stated otherwise. Perhaps as everybody's diet and health system vary, our waste products are different. I do keep a toilet cleaner tablet hanging inside the tank to add more cleaning and disinfecting power to the flush water. Perhaps that makes a difference. Finally, I also love its understated good look. It very subtly adds to the interior design of the bathroom.

Not as good as older models
We've had a number of Toto toilets. This model looks the same as the older ones, but the inside of the bowl is different. Rather the the water coming out under the lip if the rip, there are two large jets from the side of the bowl. The small and large flush buttons are also reversed. Other than that, install was the same and I got it done in about 90min, including taking out the old one.Why 3 stars? The flush... Or lack of. No power. It's quiet, but no power. In the older toilets you hear a final "suck" as the water goes the the drain, sucking all your stuff down before water level rising. In this model there is no final "suck". The water just goes down, but not all the way and stops. I've not had a perfect clean flush going #2. Sometimes two flushes, but often using the brush after 3 flushes...I would get an older model...

Finally found a great toilet
I find it odd and amusing that two weeks after installing this toilet I am still raving about how great it is (a toilet?). It is by far the quietest and most efficient WC I have ever owned. The circular flushing action sweeps away waste and leaves the bowl immaculate. And that's on the low-power flush. I have an earlier model Toto and that one makes a loud "ker chunk" sound. This one is a "whoosh" you can hardly hear. The SoftClose seat is comfortable and silent. It is also slightly higher than the old model. I highly recommend this toilet.

Hard to keep clean
I read the reviews and still purchased the toilet. There is no doubt the most frustrating issue is the feces residue left behind on each flush. This toilet requires constant scrubbing. The toilet is in our guest bath which makes things interesting when guests are over.... Looking back I do regret purchasing this toilet and would have opted for something else.Note, a plumber installed without issue, so I gave it 3 stars for 'easy to install'. That being said the installation is not a standard installation and requires a diagram cutout for the install.

Nice looking toilet, flushes well but low flow leads to a messy bowl.
Have had two of these toilets installed for a couple of months. My husband was able to figure out installation without trouble. Haven't had a single clog, hooray! But we have to scrub the bowl much more frequently than our old toilet because this toilet is so low-flow and low-fill. i.e. the waste sits in contact with the side of the bowl and streaks remain even after flushing. Wasn't expecting this problem, as we were much more focused on finding a toiled we didn't have to continually plunge. Success on that front but now this new problem, which goes to show, it's always something!

It's like staying at the Mandarin Oriental in Tokyō
The plumber who did the installation used a lot of strong language to make sure it works properly... this is not a home owner project. But the toilet is superb. The extra 2" in height really makes a difference. And it is so quiet and flushes clean as can be. OK, so it was expensive to buy and install, but, WOW it's a great toilet. Next spring we will add the washlet and we will feel like we are back in Japan at an upscale hotel. Then we can turn our attention to the guest bath.
