The Igloo Super Tough product line is designed to meet the increasing demand for higher performance coolers from heavy-duty users, such as commercial fishermen, hunters and work sites. Super Tough is readily recognizable by its distinct blaze orange accent color which highlights it's premium hardware, bolt-through handles and stronger materials. Super Tough coolers are backed with a 3-year warranty, three times longer than the industry standard.

If you keep coolers long enough to have to buy replacement hinges, latches, handles, etc... then this thing is for you.
This is specifically for the 54qt STX Cooler. This one did not have the screw on plug with stainless cable and according to the Reps at the Igloo Factory Outlet Store in Brookshire the 54qt model only comes with the push on plug. This is basically what the description says, a heavier duty model than their regular line. The bulk of that is all about the Metal Latch, the Metal Hinges, the upgraded through-fastened handles with more comfortable rubber grips, and the stainless interior cables that hold the lid up when opened.I'd say the shell is a slight step up at best and ice retention is going to be similar to other Marine models in Igloo's cooler line. It does feel nice and sturdy and the upgraded parts feel solid. I feel the value is solid up to about $75 to $80.I bought this along with Igloo 20069 Wire Cooler Basket, Black and it fits perfectly! Igloo 20069 Wire Cooler Basket, BlackEven better, if you have any of the old Igloo plastic trays that measure approximately 11-1/8" x 12-1/4" they fit perfectly and two of them nestle in together with about a 1/4" overlap that does not affect closing or anything else. See pictures but ignore the holes in the trays, I cut those.... the 12-1/4" side lays in front to back.I also bought Farberware Poly Cutting Board 12-Inch by 18-Inch, White and cut it down to make interior dividers. Farberware Poly Cutting Board 12-Inch by 18-Inch, White I chose this one because I think the the 1/2" wide boards might be just a tad wide. Still, these are soft enough plastic to cut and shape super easily with a jigsaw, bandsaw, skillsaw, etc.... A hacksaw would work, it would just be a little slow. You cut your desired height up the 18" side and you'll need a 1/4" taper down the 12" side and they will slide right in and fit the interior taper. 6"s tall keeps it under the wire basket so you can slide it all the way from left to right. I cut two, one 6"s and one 8"s.There are 2 slots so you could cut the cutting board in half and it would be just about full height in both slots. We are road trip ready!

Size matters
I had a hard time finding a good picture of what a 54-quart cooler looked like in terms of size. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what 54 quarts looks like compared to a 2-liter bottle. The lid does close with the 2-bottle standing upright. I have yet to put this cooler to use, but on first inspection it seems like a quality product. I will update at a future date after I put it to the test.

Great Cooler
Great cooler. Just took it on a 3 week, 4,000 mile July road trip through OR, CA, AZ, NV, UT and ID in the back of a Subaru Outback. 7-10lb bags of ice lasted between 1.5-2 days and 20lb bags lasted 2-3 days (it just seems to depend on how much ice, outside temperature, shade, how often you open it, where you store it, and how cold the items are that you put in it). In the end, I averaged a bag of ice ever other day. It's way better than my $17 Island Breeze cooler which never kept ice more than one day. If you put 40lbs of ice in the Super Tough STX with some already cold items, and it wasn't AZ summer hot, I think the ice would last 5 days, otherwise 2-3 days is more realistic.

54 quart model does NOT have threaded drain plug
VERY unhappy that the description is lying. The 54 quart model does NOT have a threaded drain plug with stainless steel tether, even though that is clearly listed in the features of the 54 quart model. Deceptive.

This is the one.
It's so hard to know what is the best thing to buy, depending on your needs, which can be so variable. Measuring up against something you have already, can make a difference, and although a 48 Quart one is adequate for many situations, it is really not ideal for a vacation of any length. This, 72 Quart one seems ideal. The good news is several. Metal hinges, nice drain plug with non attatched plug, quality lining and exterior, all in a cooler that you can fully load and still lift. There are a heap of coolers to choose from on Amazon and elsewhere, but for what is available on demand, it doesn't get better than this one.

Holds a bit more than comparable sized coolers with wheels
If you don't need wheels and don't want to spend a fortune on a double walled sasquatch, this works wonderfully. I drove from Colorado to North Dakota with this in the trunk, holding one "blue-ice" pack, several different frozen meats, and other cold items. Stayed overnight at a hotel, totaling about 18 hours with the food inside. The temps ranged from 40-55 degrees and items were still frozen and or cold when I arrived. I don't expect this performance in 80 degree weather, but I haven't been disappointed yet.

DON'T BUY THIS EXPENSIVE COOLER!!!!!
We used this cooler for a 3 day camping trip. We filled the cooler with 20 lbs of ice and by the next morning, we had to put another 20lb bag of ice in it. This cooler was suppose to keep ice for 3-4 days. We keep the coolers in the shade at all times. This cooler is not worth the price and didn't come close to keeping ice in it. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

It leaked the first time i used it
I bought it almost a year ago. Did not get a chance to use it until i went to the coast i had it in the trunk of my toyota camry and had many cans of soda and bottled water plus 20 pounds of ice---not hot at all very quick to melt and when i got home found out it had leaked all over my carpet in the trunk and ruined the particle board underneath. Can not send back and i haven't figured out yet where it leaked. It appeared at first glance it is the drain plug area. Very disappointed.

Somewhat disappointed with this cooler
Somewhat disappointed with this cooler. I have have igloo products in the past that have been wonderful. I don't feel it was worth the price. Coleman is cheaper and does a better job was really disappinted😞
