Ingenious Rube Goldberg Toy Mesmerizes
We purchased both a Big Loader and the no longer available Big, Big Loader over 15 years ago when our children were small. It is a complex set-up but once done it goes forever and is amazing to watch. I would liken it to an electric train set-up. Everybody loves them, but they just go around the track, forward or reverse. Same is true of the Big Loader, however, it changes directions by itself or by command when you push a switch on the track. The little car moves around the track and automatically changes vehicle tops. It goes from being a Dump truck to being a Skip Loader. It moves little black balls of cargo from place to place and is just amazing to watch. We set it up every Christmas and just sit for hours during the holidays playing with it. I'm sorry to read that Tomy is no longer supporting replacement parts. This is one of those toys that I consider a bona fide Classic. A toy that will be forever remembered by a child. I hope someone picks up the rights to this and continues to manufacture it, because I have loved giving it as a gift to friends with small children, and it has always become one of their favorite toys. I highly recommend it and you better get them before they are all gone!

One of the best toys ever made!
While playing with my three year old niece and one of her favorite toys, my mom recalled one of the toys that I spent the most time with when I was her age. We couldn't remember what it was called right away, but after a quick internet search, we found it; The Big Loader! In nearly 25 years, it seems the design hasn't changed one bit. As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", and this thing definitely ain't broke! My niece LOVES it!It takes a couple minutes to get together for the first time, but after you've done it once, it's quick and easy to take apart and reassemble. The toy seems to function best when positioned on a hard surface, but does pretty well on a carpeted surface as well.My niece was content to watch it run around the track for the first few trips, but quickly wanted to be more hands on. While I was a little nervous that she would break the motored car that causes the toy to function, it's proven that it's able to take a beating and keep on keepin' on!She had so much fun with the Big Loader that I bought two more. One for a friends three year old son and another for a family friends 4 year old daughter. Both kids loved the toy as much as my niece and the mom of the three year old boy told me that this was "easily his favorite toy".This is highly recommended for kids of any age. I've known an adult or two (myself included) who've spent a fair amount of time playing with the Big Loader as well. This thing is great!!

great little toy for the toddler set
This is actually our second Big Loader. We bought this one for our granddaughter(2.5 years old) because the Big BIg Loader we bought for her daddy 20 years ago had some stripped gears in the truck. The Big Loader is pretty much perfect for the 2.5 year old if someone helps set it up with them and the Big Big Loader is a little more advanced.I highly recommend this toy if you have a child who enjoys taking things apart and figuring out how things work and also an adult who enjoys assisting them:).

Big Loader to the rescue
My mother had purchased a Big Loader for my father when they were first developed and on the market. At some point my middle daughter got possession of the Big Loader. The Big Loader ONLY came out at Christmas time. This year when we got the Big Loader out we found that the batteries had been left in them last year and when we tried to clean off the crud one of the little metal clips broke. Although we got it re-attached the poor little loader did not have enough power to make the grades.SO...quickly I headed to Amazon to see if the Big Loader was still available on the market. YES it was and delivery was quick SO We had a Big Loader for the Christmas holidays.Fun for the little kids to follow the progression on the Loader as it goes around the track. (These are my fathers great grandchildren!)

most of the reviews on this say all already...
This is one of the most "coolest" toys. There has certainly been a lot of engineering and planning to make this toy. I'd post a video of this - but others have done it already. The battery operated car is very heavy - there is certainly die-cast metal in there. The motor in the car is pretty powerful - more than expected. My toddler and pre-school kids love it. They love pressing the control buttons to make Tomy change directions or change the top from one to another.

I love this! Great for a budding engineer
I love this! Great for a budding engineer. My office-mates and I set one up in our office, very amusing. I gave one to my friend's 6 year old. He immediately lost several of the pieces and it ended up going to waste. This would be good for a smart introverted child who likes to sit and play with toys. Not very good for an extroverted crazy child who likes to destroy things.

Tomy Big Loader
I was looking for Thomas Big Loader and found out it they didn't make them anymore. My son had it when it was smaller and he played and played with it. Unfortunately some of the small balls where lost and a piece to the tower is missing. I was hoping this would be just as good for my grandson for his birthday. We put it together and it played with it them but the track would easily come apart and he grew frustrated with it. I don't think I have seen him play with it since.

Big Loader
LOVE this toy! First saw it 4 years ago when my nephew got it for his birthday. Now that my son is 4 we felt it was the perfect toy for him. He loves it and enjoys just watching the big loader do its work. One thing to know: this is not a hands-on toy. He can turn it on and off and fix any problems with it, but it doesn't look like it would be durable if played with roughly. We have ours set up on the rarely-used dining table for my son's access. It would probably be a bit difficult to set up and take apart on a regular basis. I would recommend this to anyone with a child that loves vechicles!
