Some people will not ship if you temp will be below a certain temp. Others will pack it with heat packs to keep them warm. All depends on the seller.

Q: Would an old deep freezer with screened top and heat lamps be an appropriate habitat

Deep freezers are actually the preferred enclosure because they can hold large deer heads, are insulated well, dont require an extensive setup and seal very well. I would use ceramic heat emmiters instead of heat lamps and run them through a thermostat to maintain a more consistent temperature.
