Q: Can this machine be hooked up directly to a water line?

Hello! Saeco Xelsis SM7684/04 cannot be directly connected to a water line.

Q: Does anyone have experience comparing this to a Jura? Also, how good is its "regular everyday coffee" (not espresso)

This machine makes excellent regular coffee. The coffee setting can be set to to 2X, which will grind and brew two times. I use the Lavazza Espresso Italiano Whole Bean in my machine with a grind setting set to 3. The coffee taste great with a little heavy creamer. If you like rich coffee taste you won't be disappointed by this machine. I have had mine going on two months and the machine makes consistent coffee every time. It's dead simple to use to - I went from using k-cups to this and let me tell you, this machine will make you say why didn't you do this earlier. One tip. When you unbox your machine and before you put any beans in it, set the grind setting to 3. Keep in mind you will need to run a about 6 or so drinks through it to auto calibrate. You will know its calibrated when the coffee pucks come out like pucks and are firm (not watery or falling a part). Once dialed in, you will be set to make coffee anytime.

Yes, you can see the water with our without the light on. Nevertheless this machine is fully automated, it will tell you when to add water, even at the middle of coffee preaparation, doing a pause and continuing after adding the water
