Illustrated Stories from China (Illustrated Story Collections)

This is a book of fables or morality tales from China. We enjoy reading the stories over and over. The illustrations are beautiful!

Small thick book with nice smooth paper, sharp crisp print, and beautiful illustrations. I’ve been looking a while for some traditional Chinese stories written in English to read to the children- this is the first one I’ve found that’s easily accessible to children who speak English as their first language. (Many other books had some odd phrases or grammar, which made it difficult to keep young children’s interest). See the photos for stories included and first few pages of one of the stories. Never knew the gruffalo may have been based off an ancient Chinese story.

The media could not be loaded. We bought the Usborne Illustrated Greek Myths book and it was jammed with illustrations. Most were half-page in size. I bought the Chinese Myths book expecting the same, but was sorely disappointed. Very few illustrations to keep my kindergartner engaged. Returned.
