Light dimmers are designed to work with a resistive load; therefore, an inductive load of any type is unlikely to be compatible.

Q: Do the shutters automatically close when the fan is off and automatically open when the fan is on?

The shutters are normally closed by a weak spring; air blown by the fan opens them when it's in use.

Q: Can anyone confirm the extraction air flow 350 m³/h by comparison to say previous extractors?

I can confirm that the extraction is significantly greater than with other fans I've fitted in our house. This is consistent with the increase in motor power of around 60W against the previous 30W rating.
