Q: Once the gel is out. Can i refill it with Sand?

I did. Microwave it for about 30 seconds, pour off liquid, then keep going 10 seconds at a time, pouring off liquid each time until it all comes out. Or you can melt it down... slowly... and let it reform and start again. They do make refill gel for it

Q: The lid does not snap on like described. Is this defective or is there a way to get it to snap on?

Our lid did not snap on. Just sets on top of the opening.

Q: If I order the farm in December, when can I expect ants to be shipped to me (since they won’t ship in winter)?

You have to order the ants. The information to order comes with the ant factory and there’s a small fee for the ants. It took 1-2 weeks to get the ants.
