Great for costumes or for older kids to pretend battle
First off, the seller is fantastic and isnready to respond if you have any issue with your order. I had placed my order for one shield, but immediately after I placed the order, my husband recommended I get a second one so our kid could have another one to share for when he plays with his friends. I couldn't cancel/update the order through Amazon, so I contacted the seller to let them know I wanted to add a second item to the order, and they quickly cancelled my initial order so I could make the new order. They responded so quickly, in fact, that the initial order never even posted to my credit card. Now for the shield itself. It is plastic, quite thin, and it is a decent size, even for adults to use as part of a costume. My kid and his friends are rather rough when they "battle" each other, and one of the shields did chip, but it is still quite usable, and now has added character.I would recommend the Viking shields sold from HalloweenCostumes on Amazon.

Worth it
First of all, yes, it is not thick at all. It is very flimsy. Second, it actually is a decent size across the shield face and easy to paint. All in all, it went very well with my Renassaince Festival costume.

Looks cool, but it is pretty flimsy
This shield looks awesome and it's a great blank canvas if you want to paint it with acrylic paint like I did. The shields are 21 inches in diameter so they are the perfect size for an adult. They are probably too big for small children. The downside is that these are pretty flimsy and the first time we dropped the red one, it broke (you can see it in the picture). This could probably be re-enforced with some cardboard in the back. Also, the arm straps come out pretty easily, but I just stuck some shoe glue into the holes and the straps aren't going anywhere now. These are great for Halloween costumes, but I definitely would not use these for LARPing. After Halloween, I am gonna be hanging them on my bedroom wall as decorations. Overall, I love them, but they only get 4 stars from me due to flimsiness.

False Advertising
More or less a battle ready shield, though it is false advertising. This is a plastic, flimsy shield only painted to look like wood. So if you’re looking for a wooden, sturdy shield, this is not it. If you want to make the shield less flimsy, just grab the two handles with one hand and squeeze them together. Shield is still warped, though. Silver dust on the parts supposed to look like metal comes off. Good for LARP, though.

Better than expected
The value it's a good one for this type of product and the material that is made of. It's very comfy to hold and it's weight very lightly. Recommended 💯% clfor cosplay.

The quality of this product isn't the best. In the description it does say that it is made out of plastic and so I didn't expect it to be "amazing" quality... but there are some things that are expected... like a product that isn't warped and has random holes in spots most noticeable. On the "metal" portion in the middle, there is a hole right on the front which does not look deliberate. There are other holes around in the "wood" area where the straps on the back are locked in. While it may not bug other people, it really bugged me. So if this sounds like something you wouldn't like, don't get this product. I know I won't be buying it again...

Truth about shields
So, i finally get a say. Yes, this is plastic. No, it isn't that flimsy. True, the word wooden needs to have fake or " " on it, but IF people can read descriptions you clearly can read it says plastic. This is a good basic shield you can paint and use for cosplay and medieval faires...or in my case, my knights of honor to carry for my wedding. The only issue i had is i had to pay high price for shipping so i could guarantee they would be here for the wedding.

Flimsy and don't last
The arm straps broke within 10 minutes of my kids playing with them. I wish the product images had shown how the arm straps attached because then I wouldn't have wasted my money. One of the shields actually cracked through on one side. They would look cool if they worked, though.
