.......on the tin!
I bought this to extend ethernet wired access from my BT hub located downstairs near the phone socket and lounge TV with Apple TV and YouView to an upstairs bedroom where it allows connection to PS3, Vodaphone network access thingy, and Apple airport express. I wanted to allow the PS3 to have Gigabyte access to the BT hub so I chose this equipment. I could have easily managed with fewer ports but the extra cost for 8 ports was not significant and the power save function that switches off unused ports means that the larger device remains cost effective to run, and of course allows for future expansion. The TG-S82g was very easy to install. I simply plugged everything in and switched on and it worked. (I followed the rule to switch on the device nearest the Router first and then connect and power up other devices in turn. )The Switch seems to be robustly constructed, it does not get hot and it has been running now for some months without incident. No restarts or noticeable glitches. Well priced, well made, and it does what I wanted.

Instant upgrade to a gigabit network
I bought this to improve speeds between my PC and HP Microserver, as copying large files across the network through my 100Mbps modem/router was taking far too long. Very impressed with the compact size, I was expecting something bigger, but this is a very small box that can easily be tucked away discreetly. It would have been nice to have some keyhole slots on the bottom for wall mounting, but you can't have everything. As soon as I received it, I switched round the network cables so that my old router is now just supplying the broadband connection, and all my other network traffic is running through this switch. No issues, everything worked straight away (quick reboot of the server required) and now runs at a nice fast data throughput rate.

Simple no-frills Unmanaged Switch!
This TRENDnet GREENnet unmanaged network switch comes highly recommended by me!Easy to use, plug-n-play, silent, compact, and great quality are some of the words and phrases I would use to describe this Switch. It is a Gigabit switch with a metal case. No connectivity issues and nothing to question.5/5 * and recommended! It does exactly what was expected of it.

Almost perfect
Agree with other reviews that it does seem a good bit of kit, low power consumption and solid. My only issue is that unlike the 5 port plastic version from Trendnet, there is no indication of the network speed (i.e. 10/100 or 1000) for any of the ports (unless I'm missing something obvious).

Small but functional piece of kit
Excellent value what makes the product different is that the Ethernet cables connect to the rear with the front displaying the light for each port connected. Would recommend.

Fit and forget.
Perfect little 8 - port metal cased switch, version 2.0R. Easy to set up - just plug everything in, that's all. Have now bought two having outgrown the previous 5-port versions. All have run perfectly servicing PlayStation, Xbox, hi-fi streamers, Humax TV box, TVs Blu-ray players, and Home Cinema amp. No issues at all.

Wow £16 for an 8 port Gigabit unmanaged switch!?
I loved this for its value and excellent build quality (I got the metal case version with an external power supply). This works flawlessly with my entire network. It feels like a budget item to me in terms of its network throughput but allows transfer of big files at disk to disk speeds over the LAN and works well with SKY broadband

The best switch I had so far
This is a well designed switch.I bought 4 of them so far and use them everywhere. Its metal case and clever design makes it suitable for any use from building an SBC cluster to any regular use.Its power requirement is 5V1A meaning that it can be powered by a USB charger and therefore is well suited for building an SBC cluster.
