House of Cards - Season 1-5 [DVD] [2017]

As usual, there is a lot about the content, plot, actors and the movies/series themselves but less about the technicals. I was a little bit concerned that the Blu-ray box set audiovisuals content will be worse than Netflix 4k Ultra HD delivery but I'm glad to say and happy to announce that it's absolutely stunning and on my Philips miniLED linked to Fidelio 7.1.2 soundbar and played by Sony 4k Player I can't really say I'm watching 4k or HD! The sound is completely enough to fill up the room and I don't need more for a political thriller series to be honest. The video quality like lighting, shadows, blacks etc. is really, really good and it became my reference Blu-ray discs for video quality. The value for money is outstanding. One of the best of my purchases for a HD box set.

What can one say this is the best series I have seen for a long time . I have bought all of them and it's that good I watched all ,three times over straight.

Enjoyed

Brilliant . Loved Kevin Stacey's portrayal of the grasping, wicked politician. He frightened me in every episode - the ' to the camera' asides - so chilling. Claire - she frightened me even more...unfathamable. A hint of what made her when her mother appears, for a few minutes you begin to think - ah, well, that's why she's like she is , poor Claire. But then, bam ....she turns an even crueller trick. Great acting and tough story lines. It's amazing how you can be rooting for Claire to get to the top of the slimy pole of politics yet find her so scary .

Kevin Spacey is terrific in this, and the rest of the characters are very good too. Series 6 onwards, made after the Networks had dumped Kevin Spacey, have had very poor reviews, so the box set of series 1 to 5 is the one to buy.

This series is SO good you just want to watch the next episode. I know that Spacey is persona non grata now, but, boy, he can act.

A brilliant view of one man and his equal wife as they work their way to the White House. Using and abusing everyone in their way including each other.
