Q: Can I connect my microphone to it using a cord?

Yes...... If your mic has an XLR cable, this will work. If your mic is a cheaper style with a 1/4" male, that will also work..... You are better off buying a small mixer and going mic to mixer to RPG8. Buy a mixer with reverb.

Q: What is the best way (sound quality) to connect a passive mixer to this speaker? 1/4 inch plug or RCA?

Speaker has to sets of inputs. XLR & 1/4 jack Mic level and XLR & RCA Line Level. You can use the 1/4 in Mic level for a line input by turning down the level control. This method allows either channel to function OK. But if you have a stereo mix it would be best to use the paired RCA jacks to amplifie both right and left channels.

Q: Are there any covers for these speakers? Waterproof would be ideal.

I use outdoor smoker covers of proper size to fit.
