This was really helpful for my son taking the History AP in NY. I just wish I had had it earlier. Once we had it, he was able to review and get used to the question format. He was also able to figure out what he needed to study more.

Excellent book book for study

I used the 2019 version of this study book and loved every page. I didn't even get the premium edition, so I only had two practice exams from the book, but combined with online exams I was quite prepared. The practice tests are difficult (it's not just a rumor!) and the step-by-step answers don't make me feel like I waste my time even when I get questions wrong. The content is very comprehensive; I had no trouble with my knowledge during the exam. My favorite part of the review book is the "How to Approach the Essay Questions" chapters. They were a last-minute life-saver. By going over strategy, what to look for, what not to do, how to plan basic essay structure, and especially how to approach the synthesis essay (the DBQ), I really got a feel for what to do on exam day. I don't know how PR compares to other books (finding that out with this year's APs), but I am very happy with my limited experience. A word of advice, though: Do not use this as your only resource, or even as your primary resource. Also, beware of the Long Essay at the end of the exam - it's more difficult than it may seem!Best of luck!

The techniques this book has to help you study and do well on the exam are pretty good as they are!. They are nothing special though as they can be found in just about any APUSH exam review book. What really makes this book shine in specific, I think, is its material overview. I feel like this book introduces topics and explains them very nicely and in just enough detail for the exam. I have read many APUSH books to prepare for this exam. This is definitely the best and the cheapest!
