Could I put this under a wooden shelf above electric fire as heat makes shelf hot?

We have used this on the back of DIY wooden radiator shelf made from 18mm MDF. It has not stopped the heat completely, however the shelf only gets slightly warm and it also helps the heat to find it's way out into the room rather than up to the window above. We are pleased with the results.
